My 2001 3500 is used for towing the 5th wheel, so it may be months before I drive it. Last night I noticed a puddle on the concrete under the front axle, more to the drivers side. I checked the fluid and it is clean/clear and appears to be power steering fluid. Today, I looked up under the truck and it seems to be coming from the power steering reservoir. I didn't see any oil on the shaft going to the vacuum pump. So, before digging in, I searched the forums here and noticed the vacuum pump repair kit used a lot, but if it was my vacuum pump leaking, wouldn't it be engine oil that is being leaked?:(

What's the most common problem with the power steering leak? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I had a similar leak, and it turned out to be the vacuum pump. The fluid appeared clear, as well. A rebuild kit fixed it.
