Well, my factory lift pump went out on "Red" last Friday. I ordered an Air Dog II and installed it last night. Got all the air out of the system this morning and got it running. The engine is running very strong, but sounds very different than before, sounds about like an old 12 valver that needs the valves adjusted, or like an old 7. 3 out of a Ford. The check engine light is on too, and shows P0088 as the DTC, which means high rail pressure. A friend of mine said this is probably due to a bad fuel control actuator on the injection pump.

I would like to know if a bad FCA would cause the excessive engine noise and the P0088 DTC? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance.

P0088

P0088 Fuel rail pressure too high. A bad FCA could cause that code also check to make sure nothing else became unplugged when you installed the ADII

Do not drive in this condition,Your rail pressure should be 5200/5400 @ idle P/N. Most likely cause FCA,and watch out, their are allot of FCA knock offs out their,if it doesn't have the name BOSCH stamp on it ,I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks for the help guys, but I found the trouble and am happy to say that the truck is back on the road. It seems that one of my buddies who helped with the install disconnected the FCA and connected the harness for the ADII to it's connector. I'm amazed that the ADII worked at all! Took the truck to RPM Offroad in Bristol, TN and Jereme found the problem and cleared the DTC. Rail pressure at idle is now about 5300, and the truck sounds right again. HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE AT RPM, ESPECIALLY JEREME, THESE GUYS KNOW THEIR STUFF!!!!

Those are entirely different connectors, It would Be impossible to connect them,The connector on the Pump is Deutsch and the FCA is Bosch with Tyco Pins,It would be impossible for the Pump to run off the FCA connector its voltage is considerably less then 12v. I must be missing something Here?

TCD, I think I am too, but Jereme took one look at it and said "What the H**L!" I don't think the connectors were together very well. The power for the pump was connected directly to the battery, so that was providing the 12 volts to the ADII. Feel free to call Jereme and ask him what was up if you would like.
