Hello everyone, I am a new member to the site and enjoy it immensely. This place has got to be the bonified information clearinghouse of all time regarding our great trucks.

This will be my second Cummins / Dodge and I am seeking some input regarding the history of my truck, I had heard that the previous owner frequented the site here and would like to see if he would reply to my thread and expand on the previous history, modification and such of this very clean truck that I just purchased.

My truck is a 97 2500 SLT and the color is arrest me red, the original owner was in the Bolton Connecticut area and from all that I have heard and seen of the truck indicates that it was very well taken care of and tastefully modified.

I have a company contracted to bring the truck from Connecticut to North Georgia and they have forcasted Monday as the delivery date, to say I am excited to have another Cummins is an extreme understatement and I am looking very forward to the first of the week getting here. Picture of the truck is included below in an effort to narrow the possibilities down even further.

Thanks to the administration and membership for an incredible sight and I look forward to many years of great information, banter and general discussion about all great things that rattle.

I dont know who owned it.

There are some members from the area, they may recognize it.

PS If youre buddies with the local dealer, he may be able to find a name.

Thanks bud I appreciate the response, the compliment and the welcome.

that trudck is slick!! how did you find it, ebay?

I actually found it on one of the Cummins sites, I had been looking for another 2nd Gen to purchase when the time was right and the money was there, after getting rid of my 94 2500 I soon realized that I was unhappy when I looked out in the driveway and it wasn't there.

So along came a little money at the right time and after scouring the local adds and finding nothing special I soon started checking adds on Ebay, diesel forums and the like, this one really stood out as it was tastefully modified, it was very clean and most importantly it was 2nd Gen truck.

I will hand it to the previous owner as he really has taken care of it.

I did tire of looking at trucks and this is the first time I have ever purchased a truck that I had not sat in or checked out in person, but the owner was open and honest sending pictures, videos and the like from every angle possible.

Leap of faith I guess and I am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Nice to meet you and thanks for compliment on the truck and the reply to the post.

Swcook nice truck, how many mile on it. Looks like it was kept in a garage. You do not see many trucks that are 10-12 yrs old that are in good shape. I know this hot shot driver here in south la. That has a 2500-12v 95 or 96 2wd. The last time we talked was about 6 months ago, he had about 870,000 on it, i still see it on the road. Hope you made a got deal. Run it. Rcrosby

Thanks buddy, the truck was in fact garaged or kept inside a barn most of its life from the reports I am getting, the mileage is around 156,000 and as we all know that motor is just getting broken in good at that point, previous owner states that it gets great mileage and is really powerful. When I saw the list of mods it made sense to me, power to spare and with all the torque on tap from the bottom to the top you can just loaf along without all the drama. That is if you can keep your foot out off the skinny pedal.

I appreciate the reply and I am "really" enjoying the site!

None of my business, but how do know this much about the truck, but not it's owners name?

Inquiring minds... ...

I purchased the truck from the second owner who owned the truck for a very short period of time, the original owner lived on a farm next to the second owner. The information I have received on the modifications and history are coming from the second owner of the truck as passed along from the original owner that was responsible for the modifications.

Actually I feel I lucked out as the original owner reportedly learned of the KDP issue from these forums soon after purchasing the truck and took quick action to remedy the problem, he also added gauges as the next modification to understand what the truck was doing prior to adding more fuel and air to the mix.

These steps and the overall condition of the truck pretty much told me that he was doing it the right way and taking care of the truck. Without digging for the information and attempting to become a better informed buyer I would not have been able to get a truck I felt was worthy of good money during hard economic times we are and will be facing.

In the end I am in a crap shoot for the money I have wagered on this truck but all that I have been able to resource has provided me with a positive feeling about its condition and I feel the money was well spent.

The guy I purchased it from said the original owner was on the TDR site a good bit, I don't know if he lurked and soaked up information like I did for years or if he was a frequent contributor?

Who knows... but one thing is for sure, the truck is headed southbound after it is picked up this morning and good, bad or ugly the members here will get a ringside seat of what I just spent my hard earned money on.

Truck was picked up in Connecticut this morning and is headed south to North Georgia. The guy I purchased it from said that it was -7 degrees.

Also you will note the 6. 7 cab-chassis pulling the whole shebang, seller stated that the 6. 7 truck had a couple warning lights flashing on the gauge console with the CEL prominently displayed, I hope it makes the pull south?

Anxiously waiting and a very shameless plug on my part but that truck looks great in the snow!

You will not be dissapointed with your new truck. The current owner is a stand up kid, you are getting a sweet ride:)

Thanks for the reply and you are definitely correct that he is a great guy, he made the transaction as seamless as possible while going out of his way to provide me with information on the truck.

I wish all people were that easy to get along and work with as there would be far fewer bumps in the road and less side streets to navigate.

He did go a long way towards making this purchase an easier decision to make.

Thanks buddy and you really took some great pictures of the truck as well, I am sorry to see it leave your farm but you can rest assured that it will be well taken care of here, if I can treat it half as good as you did then it will be more than enough.

Regarding the assistance with the truck, bring all the input forth as I am learning as I go here and the previous experience and information is appreciated.

Do you think yall will get above 20 degrees today?

Just looking at that picture of the thermometer at 7 below was bone chilling.

lol idk the sun has popped out once and a while and did get a little warmer but not by much maybe 10* but once the sun sets, back down to 0 it goes. I wonder if that transporter has to get that truck off to get the audi in front of it of before it gets to you. I sure hope not as he wasnt the greatest at driving the cars. I bet he is unloading them acura first, then to you then the audi but who knows.

I have a nightmare of a mental picture and it involves the fella that cant drive, putting the truck back up after he delivers the Audi and the end of the nightmare is off the side or Dukes of Hazzard style over the top.

When he gets here I will be ready to intercept the truck keys.

Gotta hand it to those drivers though, they really load up the miles from A to B and with the relatively small amount I am paying to have it delivered I can readily understand why they load the transport all the way up for the drive.

The company I actually went through sub contracts the Hot Shot companies out based on where the deliveries are going so they are getting a piece of the pie as well.

To me the fuel, wear and tear on the rig, the food and the mandatory downtime for sleep makes me wonder how these guys get all this done and make a buck.

Hey FWIW cool name ya picked out as it threw me at first, after the double take I knew it was you.

lol well I hope all goes well as i just had to turn my head as he loaded it this morning, but Im sure it will all be find. Let me know on monday... take some pics on the unload.

SWCook - Sweet 12V!!! Nice catch, sounds like it came from a good home.

cumminsfhama89 - I'm sure you'll miss it, but it seems like it's going to a good home w/SW. Wished the paint on my 99 looked half as good as ol` red there.

Silver (Lt. Driftwood) just doesn't hold up to the elements that well, especially when there's no home for it to sleep in.

Welcome to the site guys.

Oh, can't wait to see the unload pictures. It'll be like bringing the new baby home from the hospital.

Thanks for the welcome Joe and the kudo's on the condition have to be handed to cumminsfhama89 for keeping an old sled in great shape.

I really just lucked up and was in the right place, the right time, with the money and persistence to persuade a sale.

Definitely will take pictures on the arrival and unload.
