Hey guys! How hard is it to get RV parking at the balloon fiesta? I have always thought that's the only way to go on a fiasco like that. I would be up for bringing my lowly 2002 Tahoe 5er. The family would love it and with some CTDs around we men would have something to talk about!! How's ever body doin? :)

I sent an email to enquire from the fiesta people about getting a block of spaces. Here is the original and reply from them. We have gone every year for the last 5 years, dry camp in the official fiesta rv park, it is nice.

The only dates I can offer you are 9/30 thru 10/5 in Premium (water &

electricity) and VIP dry camping; the nights of 10/7 and 10/8 in Premium;

and all nights in Standard dry camping. VIP dry is located next to the

Fiesta Park with free admission. The other 2 areas are approx. 3/4 mile

south of gates with a free shuttle back and forth. You also pay admission

from those two areas ($6 each time you go thru the gates).

If you would like to discuss this further, please call me at the number

listed below any morning 9 a. m. till 12 Noon MDT>

Hello,

I am the webmaster for the New Mexico Turbo Diesel Register (TDR). We

are the state chapter of the TDR. We have been discussing the

organization of a national meet at the balloon fiesta this year. Are

we able to arrange for a block of RV slots?

Thankyou,

Jeff Wolf

Jeff,

I'm stoked! Oo. Please keep me informed of your plans or the group plans if we get a group. We usually spend labor day at the lake but this sounds like a great change.

Thanks for bringing this up.

We'd be a go for the first weekend. We fly out on the 5th for Hawaii. Long as I can figure out how to get this beast out of there before everyone else leaves.

Love the pictures - but sure looks a little crowded there. I'll need to practice my parking! Are we going to do this as a group, or should I go ahead and make reservations?

BTW, my wife and I have "Lucy" and "Ricky" mugs from when we gor married.

"Ju got's a lots of splainin to do Loocey". And yes, it's a great movie!

I haven't done the Pac Brake yet cuz I'm trying to figure out what I am going to do with the exhaust. Funds are a little limited (again) so I'm debating getting a turbo mount brake kit, but if I go to a full 4" exhaust, I'm going to need an inline kit. Decisions, decisions. Gotta do something, though, as we are planning to go up to the Rockies later this summer and I don't want to pull 13,000# without it.

I had the same decision to make; I did the direct mount brake. Food for thought, the direct mount brake just replaces the downpipe so a 4" will connect to the brake. The limitation of the DM is you can't upsize the turbo. I thought it would be at least "quite some time" before that would happen for me, if at all so I went with the DM If you do the inline you have to retro-fit it to the current exhaust until you get the 4" exhaust. Joe has some good ideas on that proceedure.

Balloon fiesta is quite crowded although they park you as you arrive, so you don't have to do any fancy driving. No reservations are required for the dry camping but you have to make reservations for any of the other locations early. We need to find out soon about any other interest (TDR members outside NM) in the event. They will reserve a block for us. Last year we dry camped, but the row in front of us was wet camping so conceivably we could block both together. I think a group camp would be fun as other local members could participate in a large bar-b-Q and other fun stuff during the day. When's the new baby due?

yea i saw that post and was kinda confused myself. how was the lake? i will be at conchas this weekend, right below the rock dam, if any of you feel like it you are welcome to come by for a couple of beers!

VP44 Help

Was curious if you guys know which dealer to take my truck to for new LP & VP44. I am assuming Augies? Also, being the second owner, is there any warranty issues? Truck is an 01 with 55k. Not totally sure yet if this is even the problem, but it will have to be towed. Does the warrant cover towing ?

Thanks ahead for any help !

Depends on the vehicle in the service date. There should not be an issue with you being the second owner, and i think the towing expired with 3/36 warranty coverage.

I am assuming Augies

I dunno about Augies WBlackberg. I used to would have said yes, but here lately, there seems to have been a lot of problems with their service center. Its about time they got their act together and fixed it!!!

My grandpa got the run-around about a Gauge display. They had major problems with their service center regarding their cherokee. And he helps augies out a lot by putting on a show for them.

Recently, a jeep of our friends (un-mechanically inclined) was taken in for a water leak (we could see it pouring out the head gasket!!). They said the water was leaking from the rocker arm cover  , and sent it on its way, with no water. the motor seized on the way home. dunno whats gonna happen with that situation.

I think right now, I'd say Melloy is the best bet. I've heard a few good things about them recently.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. I actually took it to Melloy this morning. I heard that Mark Chapman over there is a pretty good wrench on these. Turns out while dropping it off that I went to high school with the service writer. Another good guy. Don't know if any of this makes a hill of beans, but it made me feel somewhat better.

Yeah, Mark is a good guy. He built a 440 for my cousins duster. My uncle also works at Melloy. They all seem to be pretty nice people there. I just hope it works out for you. Auge's is really screwing up their reputation!!!!

--Jeff

Well got it back today. Replaced just the lift pump. Seems ok. Should have went ahead and done it myself in the beginning. Would have saved about 400. 00 bills. Oh well. Service and response from Melloy was great. Gave me a 10% disc to. Talk w/ Kris Johnson if you guys go there. Said he would really try to help TDR guys on what he can.
