V06
NHTSA Recall #
19V-021
Safety Defect/Non Compliance Description and Safety Risk

Some vehicles may have been built with an outboard steering linkage jam nut that could loosen allowing one end of the drag link to separate from the adjuster sleeve. A drag link separation can result in a loss of directional steering control, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

Repair Description

Inspect the torque values. If the torque values meet requirement, the nuts will be welded to the adjuster sleeve. If the torque values do not meet requirement, the drag link assembly will be replaced.

I wouldnt want anyone welding on my rig  unless it was absolutely necessary. Are they going to disconnect batteries, isolate grounds etc?

Yep, it is listed for my 2015. Standard old parts not currently available BS. SnoKing

That is a concern of mine as well. But, they also don't have the parts yet, so maybe a full replacement is the real fix as quality control would be spotty at best.

Mine has the too much toe issue, just noticed the tire wear the other day. Maybe I shall talk to my local dealer service manager, and get it all done at once. One of the techs that does the work happens to be a tenant. Helps.

Wayne, they want to weld the adjustment nuts to the sleeve, thus rendering the drag link non adjustable. That’s ridiculous. Got a warn part? Replace the whole drag link. Hit a hole and want to straighten your steering wheel? Replace the drag link. It renders the link useless for one of the two purposes it was designed for. I guess it just goes on the list of recalls I’ll never allow a dealer to perform.

I agree. They’re not doing this to my truck.

I understand what they want to do. It’s just not the remedy I would expect out of a vehicle manufacturer today.
Back when real Mopars had screw in ball joints, and those self cutting threads would strip out in the upper control arm, it was acceptable to place a tack or 3 in that case, or replace the whole arm. Back then you dint have the electronic device factor of today.

Maybe someone can post a “FULL IMAGE” pic to show where the offending part is.

Mine has never loosened before or after the R46 recall, I check it often to make sure ,not worried about this one . Its a simple one to keep an eye on .

Thanks for the pic

Welding is not an acceptable solution. Why not just clamp a piece of split poly or other flexible tubing over the nut and sleeve. An easy, cheap non permanent solution.

UH, thanks I guess the "full image" portion was missed. :D
