FCA isassisting with the recall by working with you to facilitate the recall. The SelectiveCatalytic Reduction (SCR) system may experience degradation. This may causetailpipe emissions of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) to exceed the Federal and/orCalifornia Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) emissions standard.ModelsIMPORTANT: Some of the involved vehicles

The VIN on my truck doesn't have MDH×××××× (followed by 6 numbers. Mine is 8DG××××××
(8DG followed by 6 numbers) so i suspect I don't have the S47 recall.

I may have spoken too soon. I just checked my RAM mobile app. 2 recalls. S68 Alternator and S86 Federal Emissions. Anybody have specifics on S86?

Just checked my truck is part of the S86 recall. Looks like they will be replacing the SRC once they get new good parts available.....

MDH is the Month, Day, and Hour your truck was built. It is on the VIN sticker on the door.

S86 is to remove the amonia sensor and replace the SCR. If your truck has had TSB 18-088-15 completed it has already been excluded from the recall.

Sag2, Thanks for the accurate & prompt advice.

Posting the text of the recall here. It says 1-6 hours. I suspect it's a huge job removing the NH3 sensor, replacing the SCR, and the time-consuming reprograming/flashes.

I'm going to snap a picture of my fuel filter minder and oil change minder before taking it in as I know from posts on here they can be affected.

It appears S47 & S86 must both be SCR recalls. Or maybe S47 was replaced by S86??????

The replacement of the scr cat and flashing the ecm as well as removing the sensor/module should take about 2 hours actual time.Allow time for getting the truck into the shop of course

Hi Bob 4x4,Sag2 and all the of the chain gang. Just got the email, text, phone message and Mopar owners website recall on my 2015 Ram 2500.My V.I.N. is in.They are calling it S87.

Just dropped off the truck to get the S86 SCR recall done. They told me there are 3 optional flashes. One for the ABS, one for the IPC, and one for the PCM. They charge $33 per flash since I'm past my 3/36 warranty. Looks like my 7/70 extended warranty doesn't cover that. Does anyone think it's worth paying for the flashes?

I think the ABS flash is a safty issuethey really shouldn't be charging for that one. The others I'm not so sure.I do know that out of the 5 or 6 times that my 13 has been re flashed half the time there were Improvements in how the truck drove and shifted......

That said I just got my card about the S86 recall. I'm hoping that they now have some Known Good Parts so I can also get my alt done at the same time.

The service writer (didn't talk to the tech) said the flashes were newer, but didn't seem to think (didn’t have a reason to think) they were better. I don't think the ABS is a safety issue, or it would have been a safety recall.

Ok Good and bad news on the Alt recall.....

Just heard back from Chrysler Customer Service they said that they can't refund my Alt claim invoice at this time as there are No repair parts available at this time. They said that the unit that was installed in my truck, just 3 weeks ago, is part of the "Bad Batch". Once they have "known good parts available" I will be notified when to bring my truck in for repair/ replacement of the Alt. At that time they will be able to refund me for the Alt that is currently in my truck.
Sit and wait is all I can do.....

I'm guessing you didn't have an extended warranty?

No my Warranty ran out 30,000 miles ago... One would assume that the Power Train can't function with out the Alt..... But the Power Train only covers things "bathed in oil" the lube in the bearrings of the alt does not qualify.

The pcm flash is part of the scr recall-free.The other 2 are not important if you do not have symptoms covered by the flashes

Bob do you see anything different with the new SCR,was it a design change on the inside of the SCR like material used design change. What is retail at your store on that part. Also was the SCR re-flash from Cummins. Or do you think it was Ram engineering or a collective approach.Do you have any details as to what the PCM programming change was.People I talked with in L.A. said that the PCM flash was for the dosing triggering event during high Nox emission events. This only occured when the Cummins 6.7L was not fully warmed up.Some say that the dosing event during cold engine driving was flooding the SCR and ruining the interior walls of the SCR.Many noticed a flood of water coming from the b-clamp to the muffler.Which people throught it was just moisture do to the temp difference outside verus inside the muffler system. Thoughts

I just looked up my VIN on the Ram site and it shows that recall S87 for the SCR is incomplete and that parts are available. I called my dealer and scheduled an appointment for Thursday but he said that they inspect the converter first and replace it if needed. I thought that it was automatically replaced as part of the recall.

Don

The new scr cat is different and the amonia sensor and module are removed,The software has been revised a number of times
