It was quiet, the clutch was slipping when in regen due to surge.
Just got back from a total of 650 mile trip towing trailer and clutch works great and is still quiet, haven't heard any gear rollover noise yet, Only thing i can tell is different from oem is that it doesn't slip and is a little harder to push the clutch pedal in, I'm satisfied, Monte

A little of the subject guys, but did any of you hear a slight knock in your trans/clutch before DMF replacement? Mine will knock a little in neutral with the clutch engaged. Push the clutch in, the noise goes away... That's not the rollover noise you are describing is it?

No, no knock

Mine's somewhat harder due to the 3250# pressure plate and I have the upgraded HD's. Not bad at all though. Monte, what fluid are you using now?
I've still got the Amsoil ATF in mine, just got back from disaster deployment and haven't had time to change it out yet, and weather turned sour, will update when i change fluids, Monte

My dad had his DMF replaced with the SBC O-HD at the end if summer, it's a very quiet setup. I can hear a tinge of rollover on rare occasion. He also has the upgraded 6.7/QSB harmonic damper since the G56 trucks don't have the damper on the driveshaft.

RVTRKN, your noise is probably related to the dual disc, they are noisy on a quiet day.

My OFE makes a but of noise if I lug it in higher gears but nothing like the DDs I have heard.

Thanks. Trans is smooth with no noise under power. No clutch slip, just that sound at idle. I know I need to do the clutch eventually (~72K) but the noise has me wondering what's going on in there.

That is the DMF telling you it's about to retire.

The roll over noise mine has is the same as my NV5600 had but that was at idle in gear rolling through a parking lot in second. My G56 has it below 1500 rpm in 3rd through higher gears, although I rarely go that low of RPM in sixth. On a weird side of the rollover noise, not to confuse the noisy trans at idle, it is a lot quieter when in regen.

my DMF went 124,000 miles, and looking at the clutch after pulling it, the disc wasn't very bad, The dmf had some springs broke and you could see it had been slipping, You'll be better off with it replaced, i can sure tell the difference, especially while towing, you hit a hill and give it some juice and NO slipping at all ,just hope i can get another 124K out of this one, Dodge dealer sent me a card wanting to give me 28,000.00 trade in for my truck, think i'll keep it.

I thought rollover was a neutral thing, and the vibration as you describe is from the clutch. I have the same thing, and it got better with a new harmonic damper and a little more fluid in the trans, but the added fluid made the neutral rollover much worse.

I've got 2 friends that have Fords and they replaced the DMF and their transmission's sound like they are coming apart, terrible noise

Yea, I hear you. My '07 is still real clean and I know I could get good money out of it. I usually sell my personal trucks every 6-7 years so it's time for a new one. But, I'm not sure I'm ready to let this one go. I had myself convinced a few weeks ago that I was going to buy a new one...but...

If I do keep it, I'll end up doing the clutch sometime this winter I imagine. I don't use that truck in the snow usually. Now, I just have to pick the right clutch....

My trans was quiet, at idle or in gear, and the only reason for the conversion was because the clutch slipped when in regen due to the surging throttle after 2000 RPM while accelerating. BTW, the throttle will not drop when in regen after 2000 RPM and accelerating, if I let off the pedal and engage the clutch it will just run up to 3000 RPM for a long one second.
