I have a heater mirror question. My truck did not have the rear window defrost feature and does not have the grid wires on the windows. It does however have the dash button for it and lights up if you push it. The question is do the mirrors heat up when this button is pushed?

SNOKING

I too would like to know this. I have the rear defroster, it works.....I just don't know how. I 'spose I need to get the FSM ordered.

The manual says that your mirrors come on with the rear widow defrost switch.

Maybe just found the answer for both of us. The lower right button on the climate control area is the rear window heater. It is the rectangle box with three squiggly lines. SNOKING

Heated Mirrors — If Equipped
These mirrors are heated to melt frost or ice. This
feature can be activated whenever you turn on the
rear window defroster (if equipped). Some vehicles may
not be equipped with rear window defroster, in this case
the heated mirrors will still function as intended. Refer to
“Rear Window Features” in “Understanding The Features
Of Your Vehicle” for further information.

REAR WINDOW FEATURES
Rear Window Defroster
The rear window defroster button is located on
the climate control panel. Press this button to turn
on the rear window defroster and the heated outside
mirrors (if equipped). An indicator in the button will
illuminate when the rear window defroster is on. The
rear window defroster automatically turns off after approximately
10 minutes. For an additional five minutes of
operation, press the button a second time.
NOTE: To prevent excessive battery drain, use the rear
window defroster only when the engine is operating.

For some reason, I made a double post and didn't know it, I then realized I misunderstood your question and went back and edited only one of them.

I know how to turn it on. I initially thought you were wondering how exactly the rear window defrosts...... as in what mechanism, I have wondered this since I bought it. There is no visible heater grid. I thought you were wondering the same thing. ooops.

I've got the heated mirrors w/o the rear window defroster. It works great on those cold wet foggy mornings. Clears the mirrors up quick.

Pretty sure this is correct. I have heated tow mirrors, but no rear window defroster. The button near the exhaust brake activates only the heated mirrors.

Went for a road trip to visit an Aunt, also Old Blue at it's new home. On the way home I started playing with the manual gear selection. I am sure that most of you know that once you push the down button it will tell which gear the transmission is in along with which is the highest gear available. Snoking

Only the 2014+ Laramie and up trims have this feature.

Newbie. :p

My Bighorn has it.

I would think that it is maybe a 7" EVIC feature? The online 2014 manual calls it the Premium Custer and show the transmission in 1st gear with 3rd the highest. Anyway I like it and may start hitting the button once to put it is ERS (Electronic Range Select mode) when starting out. SNOKING

While in Port Angeles, Wa yesterday I took these pictures of the Shell Drill Platform anchored in the bay. This is the rig that "tried" to drill in Alaska last summer. It is really big. Snoking

Keep in mind (if you don't know this already), if you activate it when you first start out, it will limit itself to the gear you are currently in.....then obviously you can shift it up manually from that point.
If I have a reason to watch my gears......I usually just hit it after reaching 6th.

Oh, will have to check that out. Thanks! SNOKING
