On my 2000 3500 6-speed. The stock steering box had some play and was leaking along with the PS pump. I bought a reman box and pump from NAPA. Got them both installed front end off the ground on jack stands. Was cycling the wheel from lock to lock to bleed the air. Started the truck and had someone in the cab to cycle the wheel while I watched the fluid level. The PS was just starting to work and all was good. While turning to the left truck running still on jack stand there was a pretty loud pop. I could see the cap on the steering box was sucking in and popping. I figured something fails inside the box. NAPA gave me a new box no charge and I got it installed. I'm having some trouble getting everything to work. Could the PS pump be what failed? I can look into it and see the fluid churning and if I crack the lines to the hydroboost I get fluid pouring out but have no idea on what pressure it is. Any way to check or test the PS pump? Hydroboost was replaced about a year a go. RPM doesnot seem to effect the steering and if I stand on the brake I do not get the crowl or grown from pressing the peddle to the floor. Can the pump be moving fluid but just not making enough pressue or flow? Only thing I haven't replaced is the PS lines but stock lines look good with no know leaks. Any ideas what's going on?
