Competition Pulling Tires?

It's running just fine, had a bit of work to do yesterday because of self induced problems but she was screaming bloody murder last night, the truck is very spooky on the road, there's nothing like making the 3-4 shift and feeling the tires fade back into traction at 80 MPH.

On polishing the housings, I took them off, yes the 40 is a pain in the butt to put back on(snap ring) but I have the two screw driver thing down well now, the Big Brother has a V-band on it. If you want to buy a kit I'd say look at this Link this is a little different that what I bought but I should have just got this from Eastwood, same money when I was done

Wow those polished chargers look alot nicer than mine. Good job Jim. I love my Piers kit it fits very nice but i painted my cold air pipes the same color as my truck.

I don't think my pipes would look good white but I sure like that blue on yours, good choice on the Twins! Mine are setup exactally like those, no differences except I built mine(did the welding) and it's a test kit, I built it using there ideas and parts with minor changes for the reverse rotation turbo, I think they will offer it as a kit in the near future.

I had Piers modify the internal wastegate on the 40 to gate both sides of the snail & they installed the larger gate as well. Hopefuly this will control drive pressures & spool the HT3B faster. My turbos are the HX-40/16CM & THE HT3B/26CM. Both are Piers modified turbos & are very responsive. I have my blow off valves set to open at 70 psi.

Hey Propuller:

I was watching the video from the Miledgville pull last night, pulling some pics from it to post. Would you mind me posting a pic of your truck?

Go ahead & post that is alright with me. Last year was a very sucsessful pulling season for me as i was only running a single B-1 charger & a little sniff of laughing gas :-laf .

Propuller,

What kind of EGT's are you seeing without NOs? I am going with the same HX40-H3B set up as you and trying to deceide either Mach5 or 6.

I can hit 1500-1600 on a real hard pull with my box on kill.

Drive Pressure test!

Finally got back home and caught up so I thought I'd do a little testing today on drive pressures, but there is more than meets the eye.

At every boost pressure tested, 20, 40, 65, 72, and 80 the drive pressure was 1 to 1 except on the lower numbers it was just a little better but not enough to mention, at the 72 one that was converter unlocked no water moving around the road a little but not too bad, this is at about 70 MPH it was just a little over 1 to 1 like 75 as best I could read. I then turned the water on locked it up in 3rd and 4th for a hard run at 80 psi and drive was still no more than 85, I knew the setup was still doing good before as I can monitor air temps and they never started going up. Upon returning to home I called Piers with the data that he needed and I told him I wouldn't do it again without a co-pilot, on that last run I glanced at the guage that I was holding in front of me, then dropped it for two hands of steering wheel as it was getting spooky... . like 80-90 MPH(4th gear), I thought this wouldn't be as bad as I put new tires on the rear but no way (guess I need to load the Caltrack's up) So this was the finally but the kicker mentioned was I have two pop off's that are set at roughly 50 psi so at the 80 boost level both of them are singing and I have the wastegate set on the ragged edge low side, who knows were the total boost would be, but the combo just keeps proving it's self. Building boost is nothing doing real light throttle shifts at 1700, you can get on top of the turbo's by the 1-2 shift driving normal, if you hammer it at that point you better be ready for a ride cause just about the time you think about it spooling up hard it's already there.

P. S. No the smoke isn't even close to being cleared up, still covers the road!

Any Pictures?! I can only immagine! I'm hooked..... As soon as I can afford twins, I want them! At this point I think Bombing is going to become spendy... ... twins, stoopid pump... ... ...

Till then... . I'll just have to keep reading... .
