I have 40,000 miles on my BFG 315's. . I should be able able to get 50,000 out of them. The tires pull great and look good but they were like CRAP on the factory rims and NO ONE can balance them. I am seriiously considering the 285's but they are MORE $$$$$ than the 315's. My questions are:
1. Do they wear evenly?
2. what mileage are you guys getting?
3. Is there another 285 that is equivalent to the BFG in lasting?
Thanks!
Answers AND input on the tires...
I have a friend running the 285s and I run the 315s...
Here you go...
1) They wear evenly as long as you keep the pressure
adjusted from the mid-point to the high end of their range...
2) He is averaging (on his 2003) 17-19 mpg depending on speed
3) A friend of mine has the Bridgstone REVOs in a 285 size and LOVES them!
They are slightly less aggressive, but still a drastic improvement over
stockers...
As far as the 315s go... .
The trick I found to balance mine is the Innovative balancing beads
and every 6000 mile rotations to keep the tread from wearing funny
(if it cups, it throws off the balance and ride quality).
The beads self adjust inside the tire to offset the balance problem.

Good luck with whatever you choose!
