Nice heep

Oh crap, not another heep owner!! :-laf

Just ribbing you. I have to, as I am the proud owner of a 73 bronco.

I'm with nutter3 down with heeps, :-laf

just kidding if I were to buy a jeep  it would be a rubicon.

I'll stick to my 72 scout II locked front and rear roll cage dana 44's and

a torque monster 345. Oo. Oo.

Well, there's all kinds of rummors for 2007. They're almost sure a V6 is going in there. I hear there may be "other" engine choices, maybe even a CRD. 2007 is going to be a big change in body style, which will include a 4 door version.

I've done quite a bit of changes to my rubi.

Very Nice! If you get a chance check out www.rubiconownersforum.com

Not sure if you've already been on there. My screenname is RUB1CON over there. We have an "unoffical" trip to Moab, UT coming up May 1-6 (or there about)

Thanks for the link, I signed up and will check it out. One thing I noticed is that my Rubi seems a bit down on power compared to my 93 Wrangler. Am I correct in assuming that the smog Nazis are to blame for this? (I'm sure it will pick up a bit of power once broken in)

I'll bet they are more than just rumors. I noticed on the window sticker it listed the smog index for this engine... . it was among the highest in the industry. No surprise they're doing away with the 4. 0. It even has what appears to be "pre-cats" just below the exhaust manifold.

Nice looking rig BTW.

no more 4. 0? This sucks. That 4. 0 is a good motor. I got my first car, 93 xj when I was 16. beat the crap outa it, learned how to drive stick with it. modded it, towed with it. raced, off road, all kinds of stuff! Even over heated that motor a few times (shutdown once in the red).

When I pulled it apart after 170,000 miles, short of a streched timing chain, week valve springs, and a leaking rear main. It could be reassembled with zero machine work! Everthing looked factory! Everyone was admazed at the block, barrings, cam, pistons. They all loook new!

Yeah, the Rubi's do seem a little "underpowered". I think a lot of it has to do with the Gearing and Transmission. You kinda get used to it. Running 35's, a big lift, and all the other heavy crap I've put on there really weighs it down, so even more power is out the window. I'm putting 4. 88's in in the next few weeks. I hope to gain some of the power back. Eventually I'll do some engine work, but I have too much other stuff goin on right now.

Hard to beat a Rubicon! I have driven a few and they all seem down on power. A friend of mine had an 04 Auto for awhile and wow what a turd, had a hard time staying in OD on the highway and got Big Block like gas mileage lol. Another has a 5-speed and its not half bad.

I built a stroked 4. 0 for my 97XJ about 2 years ago, did the budget route with a 258 Crank and rods and Crane cam, everything else minus injectors is stock 4. 0 stuff. Made a nice increase in power and it still gets the same bad gas mileage a 4. 0 gets lol. Actually probably better, averaging about 15 and my XJ wieghs about 4K+ lbs now with all the extras.

I didn't even realize there was an offroad forum on here... never scrolled down far enough lol.

if only my '00 TJ would still look that good :-laf

Congrats on your new toy ... and make sure you've taken care of all 'necessities' on the Dodge, BEFORE all the mod money goes into the J. E. E. P :D

RE: 2007's

As rumors already stated, there is no more 4. 0. It is the 3. 8l out of one of the mini-vans. '07's are also 5" wider than 06's, and a few inches longer. No more NP 231 transfer case, all will have the NP 241 that the rubicon (and ram) uses, just not with the 4:1 gearset (just the rubicon retains that). The new rubicons also have a high pinion dana 44 in the front, and both axles are now using 32 spline shafts instead of the traditional dana 44 30 splines. Fenders are now ugly as s#!t... but they are removable, so that will help. All of the new specs are available on various websites now... .

Congrats on the new jeep. You have a very capable machine. Mine has taken me many many places that people said I wouldn't be able to get.
