Ok, so now I'm curious as to what that trailer will be...
Please do tell....
I can relate to too much stuff in the shop.... and a Jeep or truck in a constant state of upgrade.
I've got four Cummins blocks sitting in my shop, two dripping oil in my floor at this moment, due to go to the machine shop, two waiting on parts to go back together.... and another in the back corner waiting on something to go bang. :rolleyes I've got the .040 pistons for the 12v, new bearings, camshaft, and seal kits... just waiting on the head to get ringed. Then the time to start my "little" project. :foam-at-the-mouth:
On the square tubing rusting out, is that 11ga? We don't have much of that problem down here. Very little weasel snot on the roads, here, even when it needs it!!
I've been getting some 3x8x1/4" wall the last two trailers. I try to seal it up good top and sides, though. The bottoms down the long rails and cross members I leave a 1/2-1/4" gap in the weld or drill a hole to drain any water that might condensate in it. We seem to have a bad problem with that, due to the wide temperature swings we get Spring and Fall. My worst problems come from livestock trailer repair. Horse pee is like liquid chainsaw!
The tubing is used, picked up from a gov't project. It's been priced $.96ft, so I can't say no.... I've still got 6 40' sticks of it left, as well as some shorter pieces.
