Competition ATPA Rcky Mtn National Truck Pull

Competition When are the two pulls in NV.

Hey guys, heads up. . . We have a venue change for the Sept. 19th High Desert Diesel Roundup and Sled Pull. Due to some issues that the Agua Dulce Airpark is having with the county, we are changing the venue because I can't risk any problems as the event nears. The new venue is just a little ways up the road from the old one at Willow Springs International Raceway. Everything else will remain the same as far as the event goes. There will still be free RV camping right at the location on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There are also hook up spots at the facility but there is an extra charge for those. In the long run this should work out better for everyone as we will have more space for Vendors and sponsors which is important as the list continues to grow. The event will be held at the Walt James stadium which is a dirt oval at Willow springs. This works well as this type of prepared dirt surface is ideal for sled pulling. We will still have a BBQ, raffle prizes, show and shine, vendors and of course the pull. Just bring some shade with you as Willow Springs is a very "Sunny" place. They are also holding a big motorcycle race that weekend which will help increase our exposure, and the track is going to help us promote the event through their website, radio and other mediums. At this time the sponsor / vendor list includes - High Roller Off Road, Antelope Valley Ford, Hunter Dodge, AFE, Rolling Big Power, Banks, DEPO, Edge Products, Pacific Performance Engineering, Mr Bobs Distributing,Mag Hytec, Four Wheeler Magazine and more. So plan on coming out and bringing your RV and stay for a few, it is going to be a Diesel Junkies dream. I will get info on hotels in the area soon for those interested. Here is a little press release I have for it. See you guys there. Their website will have info on the event and rules posted shortly. Make sure everyone hears about the change. With no Tulare this year it should be big. Sorry so long.

Craig

Sounds good guys. I will get the hotel info out soon Scott.

Sure hope you can make it out Chris, I've been wanting to see your truck for some time now. We'll talk before the event Mike.

Hey Bruce, should be a good group out their camping, I'm looking forward to that. Get some others to come out with their RV's too.

Hey Craig, 1st of all I dont have the 4x2 I had when I met you @ Hunter last year, cuz of you I got me a 4X4 L. B. see what happens when you go to these events, Foothill Ranch Dodge was an event of the year I know you were busy getting this one 2gether and you had 2 miss it, there is always next year, and it will only get better,

I met Noe from HIGHROLLEROFFROAD. COM, very nice place and guy, we're gonna hook up sometime soon to install gauges on my rig. also hopefully to have him meet a few people of special interest so that some Big Doors could open up for him really soon. NOT LIKE HE NEEDS THE BUSINESS? J/K NOE.

and yes i will be there, if anyone is coming from the o. c. and l. a. county areas, lets meet and caravan in Style :)

hey Mike, no way I'd suggest camping without an RV, but if you have one or have access to one, it should be fun. I hope we can get a good sized group out there the night before and do some bench racing and last minute preparations. Hey Joe, Noe told me he talked to you. I haven't even been by his new shop yet but it sounds pretty nice from what I hear. Can't wait, should be fun.

Alright, I finally found the thread for the new place we're pullin' at. That's awesome that it is going to be hled at Willow, that is even closer for me to attend. Definately going to be pulling, but wonder which class their gonna stick me in. Gonna be able to get more firends to come and observe the pulling since my neighbor's kid runs a kart there just about every weekend.

Craig, when are the rules and/or fliers going to be posted? I went to the Willow Springs site and all they list is the Motorcycle shindig that day?

Sounds like it's gonna be a great event! Gonna have to go all out for those Power Jokes attending, show 'em the wrath of the Cummins!!Oo. :D

Hey Joe,

Information on the event should be up on the Willow Springs Raceway sight today or tomorrow. This venue really should work out better for everyone in the long run. We have some great Vendors and sponsors involved and some really cool prizes we are giving away. Keep in mind, there is going to be money involved for the extreme class competitors for the first 3 spots. And there are trophies for all pulling classes and for the 3 different show and shine classes. With your truck Joe, you will probably end up in the 8500 lb street modified class - that is going to be a real competitive class. I know of some pretty hot Dmaxs that will be competing with you. So bring all you've got. Keep your eyes out for the info at www.willowspringsraceway.com should be up soon. There will be rules, schedules and more info. Come on out and camp on Sat. night, that might be the best part. Talk to you later.

Craig

8500 lbs. class seems high, is there an 8000 lb class? My truck weighs about 8100 lbs. I think, not sure, haven't weighed it in a while since the bumper and other mods.

The only thing I am worried about is my driveline taking a journey from underneath the truck. I think I am going to weld in a loop to prevent that but 3rd gear 4 low can get my tires spinning pretty fast and not sure how the stock driveline will hold up with my power and 37" swampers. People tell me the clutch is my next weakest link before my driveline, but I find that hard to believe.

I'll keep checking the willow site for any info.

Joe

Oh, BTW, will there be a scale on site for those entering the pull or do you have to bring a scale certificate from a truck stop or something?

some of our trucks break the 8500 barrier--like mine, psychostroker's and BBD can get there also--I venture up to 8750 depending on fuel amount--so we are starting to allow a 9000 lb max for the superstock class---I'd hate to drive all that way and not get to pull---I need to amend the DPO rules to allow this---chris

Joe, if you are under weight, you just add it as best you can to bring yourself as close as you can to the max. The scale comes with the sled and weigh in is part of the tech inspection. With that clutch and big tires, just play it safe on the gear you pick and get it going easy before laying on the smoke pedal.

Hey Chris, we will make it work for you guys, we won't let weight prevent anyone from getting to hook in some class. I just want you guys all to come, I think your trucks will open a lot of peoples eyes around here and really help to jump start pulling and diesel performance in general. Also, there is going to be some decent money avail. to the extreme classes. But if we don't get any of the hotter trucks down who can make the 7500 extreme class then that will really only leave the heavy wieghts for the extreme trucks. I really need to get an idea of who of the hotter trucks is coming so I can figure out how the money gets split up between the 7500 superstocks(extreme) and the heavyweight superstocks (extremes). If things keep going as planned, I think you guys will be really happy with the the purse:D

Hey Craig,

Hope you don't mind but didn't see a thread over on our So Cal Rattlin' Rams site, so i went ahead and started one. Hopefully everyone that I talked to at the Foothill shindig will notice it and make it to the event.

Again, hope I didn't cross any boundaries by posting it over there. :)

Joe

Joe,

Post it wherever you want, everyone is welcome and the more the merrier. There should be something on it over there though, but I haven't been there in a while. Thanks for helping spread the word.

Craig

well Brandon and Rubberneck are trying to get Brandons truck together to make this pull. I hope we can make it too... ... .....

danelle

Well no kiddin', look what the cat dragged in - the Fenley brand isn't extinct after all. :p Just kiddin' with you Danelle. I know you guys are busy as all git'up. Good to hear from you. You tell Brandon he's got plenty of time to get that truck of his ready and I'm expecting him. And tell him to give me a call some time so I don't have to be such a nagging PITA. Good to hear from you, hope to talk to you soon.

Craig,

I have a question about the weight classes for the pull. When someone is in the 7500# class do they have to be @ 7500# or lower or how does that work? I believe my rig is about 8100#, so I would guess I am gettin put in the 8500# street modified class, but would it be a good idea to get as close to 8500# as possible or should I try to get her closer to 7500# to get in that class?? Just don't understand what the weight restrictions are for each class. I am going to try and hit up a weight station this weekend to get a better idea of what the rig weighs since I have had a good amount of mods and additions since the last time I weighed her for the DMV weight fee. At that time it was about 7200#, but I cheated a little bit to get that weight so I wouldn't have to pay the darn DMV anymore than I had to. $442 was expensive enough for that weight, glad I didn't have much more on the scale at the time. :D :-laf
