I just had my vp 44 replaced under warranty. (p0216) The new pump acts completely different than the old one. I barely have enough power to pull my 40' trailer without aids. (van aakin) The old pump started building a lot of torque at about 1400 rpm and this one doesn't seem to have anything until about 1700. I used to shift gears at 2k and now I have to go at least 2. 2k to pull the next gear. The truck feels completely different. Has anyone experienced this with a change in vp44 ? Is this something to be expected from a new pump ? I think I am going to take it back to the dealer.

Is there more than one key way ? Or do they use offset keys ? I'll bet that's exactly whats wrong. I talked to the Service Manager and he said to bring it in because there was no way for him to "turn the pump up". I was just trying to figure it out because it's getting good fuel mileage and doesn't run bad. I t just doesn't have any power at all or the power seems to be moved up in the rpm band.

I just ran the codes on my truck again and it has a p0216 there again. Wouldnt the Dodge Service Dept. have reset the codes when they installed a new injection pump?

They have to run a scanner to clear a 0216. It is a hard code, and will no just resest after a pump change, or so many key starts etc. Unless the used a scanner to erase the 0216 then it will still be on.
