approx how much did you have to give for the volumizer? Are you having any problems with your transmission now?

One thing I was a little surprised about, is no boost elbow came with it... I wonder if it is worth adding. Stock the boost is 22, middle setting 26 and full power setting 30.

HVAC,It hooks up to the crank and cam sensors as well as the same two for the EZ. Got it down to about 5 minutes to take off.

The thing will break the tires loose from a dead stop now!I think the EZ has a little more low end torque but the Volumizer works better on mid and top. I'm not afraid to pass someone now as before it took forever!CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REAL BOX!!!Got to do something with the transmission now.

Mike

so this box is like the Bullydog one , with timing already included?

by the way, i just went and looked at the Volumizer website, and WOW  , i wish I would have known about this chip before a plopped down 4 bills for an EZ...

ya know?

I have had both boxes for about a year. The EZ was the first one to come down the pike and I got one the first week they were available. It is a great box and only sets a light on level 6 WOT. It seems to come on when the governor come in at about 11 mph.

Bully Dog torque dog is a good box. It comes on at bout 22-2500 rpms though. Not quite early enough for me. It does set a few codes. One takes 2500 miles to come on. I talked to the guys at Bully Dog a couple of months ago and they said it is fine now. Just haven't sent it back for a reflash.

I do disagree with those who say to wait for the "New" boxes to come out. Edge will have a Stackable system that will be compatable with the EZ. So go ahead and get one now. You wont be sorry.

i just got off the phone with matt at edge, he said december is out as far as a release date for the timing box

it this ever going to end? just keep pushing back, push, push, push

how about next july, maybe thats right on:mad:

All their products have taken *much* longer to be released then origionally estimated. However, I would say that this is better then having the product released sooner and be faulty. One company recalled their product I have been told:(

Has anyone heard of the quadzilla box this is what i sold my ez to buy i like the quad box because it's adjustable in the cab it is the revised version 0-50-100 i did not come with a elbow so still got 22lbs but this thing will flat out run.

Quadzilla

Yes... I'm really glad you mentioned the Quadzilla power module. I just visited their website at http://www.quadzillapower.com and it sounds like they have good system. I actually looked at their system before for my 01', but decided against it because no one here at TDR seemed to ever talk about it. I figured if it were any good, the good folks here at TDR would be talking about it as much as the Edge, BD, and DD TTPM.

SO... . what gives fellas? Is there some good/bad news about this quadzilla box?? You gotta love the looks of that neon green box!

BDickenson..... tell us more about your experience with the Edge Box versus the Quadzilla..... give us all the juicy details man.

Maybe they make it for Bully? They sure look the same!No codes or light as of yet and it's been 3 weeks!:D

I dynoed at Piers' Dyno Day last month and put down 411 hp with the Bully Box in Level 2. I also have Aeroturbine 4" exhaust, TAG, & Amsoil air filter. Everyone was getting good numbers that day though so take it for what it's worth, I doubt I was over 400hp, maybe more like 380-395.

I tried an Edge Box that was set for Level 6 today at Sammamish Bob's BOMB party. I must say I like the low-mid range better on that one than the Bully but it doesn't have as much high end and I don't like the fact you can't change levels or turn it off on the fly.

When I was out at Indy for the 4 Wheel Jamboree in September there was a place selling the the Quadzilla box. They said it was the same as the Bully Dog in a different box. Who knows???

Hey Stephen the only thing i didn't like about the edge box was that it's not adjustable in the cab. Besides that it is a great product. I tried to wait for the edge juice thats coming for the 03 but after getting waxed by a 01 stock auto i needed more. The quad box comes in two differant types 0-70-140 this box does adjust timing and fuel pressure but this is the box that they have had trouble with the box getting hot and shutting the truck down instantly with no warning:--) So i got their new box which is 0-50-100 with no timing just pressure there was no boost elbow that came with this box with the edge box i had 40lbs with a k&n cold air kit but since their was no elbow i've got 100extra horse but with only 22lbs of boost so i need a new elbow. As far as power this thing pulls from about 1000rpm all the way across. I can't get real crazy with it yet though because at diesel extravaganza i had a fuel return line come off on the dyno and drenched my clutch with 5 gallons of diesel. This is not because of the edge box because it was on the return side not the high presure side. So my clutch is not holding up real well to the 100 hp setting so i do'nt use it much Sorry so long winded but just givin you the facts. P. S. We must have good taste because are trucks are the color but mine is a reg cab long bed

The Volumizer box claims it is 90% timing and only 10% fuel pressure. I see this as a good thing, because the new fuel system (common rail) already has so much pressure, it's probably not a good idea to increase it more.

So far I am very happy with the volumizer, I towed a Bobcat skidloader up a long steep grade the other day with the toggle switch in the mid setting (50 HP) it made a big difference... didn't even feel like it was behind me! The EGT's are lower as well... . what more can you ask for ? Seems reasonably priced as well... http://www.rpmoutlet.com/ds994603ins.htm

I installed DDII's on Friday and with the EZ it is very nice. I will put on the Bullydog box Monday morning and post the difference. I think that with the low to mid range pull of the injectors and the high end of the Bullydog box It will be a great combo. Now if they can clear up the Default codes I will be very happy.

Thanks, Greg

Hey Greg, did you get a chance to test the Bullydog?

pressure modules

First let me say that my account has been acting up so i haven't been able to provide much support. Maybe I can watch the threads and answer questions if needed.

First let me say that right now there is not a timing box on the market. We have one that is available for Racing only. We have had problems with the module overheating and with check engine lights. I really prefer not to talk about other products, but there is not a timing box available.

Second most of the pressure boxes are going to be very similar. You could have 5 manufactures make 5 boxes and tell them you wanted 80hp and they could all be different. The reality is that fuel pressure can only be turned up so much before it either hurts the pump or causes the injector to stick. This is obvious due to the white smoke and the detonation you will hear. Also let me squash the myth that fuel pressure is always a bad thing. Fuel pressure modules got a bad rap on the 2001 Dmax engines because they had a weak pop off valve and a poor return system. When the system saw too much pressure in the return it would set a code and cause all kinds of problems. They also had an o-ring problem on the early injectors. Yes you can hurt things with pressure, but you can also hurt things with timing and with fuel stretch if it is not done correctly.

The trick to the whole module is usable hp and torque. How you add pressure, and where you add the pressure is really more important than how much. LIke I said if you have too much you will know. You can pm me if you need specifics, I would rather not discuss how much or exactly how we do it on here.

Edge has made a good little box for the CR engines. There are a few differences in the way we do things, but in general they are very similar. The biggest difference in my opinion is that we can adjust it in the cab. I personally think that if it is possible everyting should be adjustable while you drive. This lets you be in control in any situation. We have really concentrated on the bottom end torque as well as the high rpm power that the common rail is known for!

These new modules are 0-50-100hp on the HO and 0-40-80 on the SO. They are very affordable and there should be a new banner in the coming days as we are running a end of the year special!

If you guys have any questions please let me know and I will try to help. Please don't turn this into a brand war as happens on so many sites.
