I have actually, twice. The method I choose to use really depends on my mood. If I want to be quicker, I go through the fender. If I want to be cleaner, I go from above.
I won't be buying a t-shirt from, nor actively supporting either school of thought however. ;)

"(from the) Top rhetoric." Was a little snarky however! I clearly explained why I choose to go from the top. SnoKing

I ordered the wrenches that Geno was selling with the product... I hope he resolved it before I ordered. For $6 bucks here and there it's worth it to have the tools that fit and thanx for the tip on the tubing, the viscosity of my oil was so broken down it splash all over when it hit the oil pan and mad a mess on my concrete. Mental note: use an old piece of carpet next time.

The truck is shipped with a lower viscosity synthetic oil

If you use an 18 or 24 inch extension you can go behind the firewall mounted electrical plug to get to the fuel filter cap without a universal joint. It's a little easier that way for me. If you change the oil filter through the fender well, a filter cap from Geno's is priceless. No mess what so ever.

do you have definitive proof of this claim? Per most Cummins literature I read they don't suggest synthetic over dino for the crank case. only for the climate the engine will live. and i really don't think they would spend the coin on synthetic, especially with how cheep FCA is.

Synthetic base lubricants are manufactured in the laboratory to exhibit superior high temperature stability and low temperature fluidity. Since these fluids are created to exhibit less thickening at low temperatures, pumping losses are reduced and substantial reductions in spin losses can be realized at low operating temperatures.Test results indicate no significant difference in engine efficiency between synthetic and mineral base lube oils at normal operating temperatures.Since the synthetics are more expensive and, in an engine crankcase, are subject to the same contaminants as mineral based oils, they may not be cost effective.

It's common knowledge that Cummins ships these engines with 5-40 synthetic in them. They don't know where or what time of year the engine will be put in service. You think they want a brand new engine put in service at -40F with 15-40 Dino in it? The cost to Cummins is negligible considering the volume of oil they use annually and the discounts involved. If you question this fact why don't YOU email Cummins and ask rather than make accusatory assertions to a former factory tech?

accusatory assertions to a former factory tech?

I made no such assertions. Merely asked a question. Didn't mean to get your panties in a bunch for asking a question. So why not show PROOF not just the normal hearsay. So what if it's common knowledge, where did this knowledge come from? So instead of pooping off at the mouth be more helpful and show proof.

Asking for PROOF ( as if someone owes it to you) is accusatory in and of itself. If you spent a little time researching you'd know Bob was a factory tech and has more useful info than most of the rest of us combined. Now why don't you email Cummins and ask? We'll be waiting for your apology.

Bob is an amazing wealth of information. I'm not denying that.
However I will not apologize, no matter the outcome of my inquiry to Cummins.
There is nothing wrong with asking for proof.

asking for proof is the only way we have knowledge of fact.

You mean like asking for proof that you can change a 4th gen 3500 rear axle seal in less than 30 minutes as you claimed? By the way, we just learned all we need to know with your last post. I doubt anybody will pay any more attention to you. I know I won't, ever.

Good, you can either put up or shut up. Still can't provide proof. Simple little question and you can't do it. You provided zero useful information on this. Just babble. So please move on. If you can't prove your statements as fact, then you are none better than a lier.

Bob, I'm not meaning to call you out, and I am sorry if it seams as such. I'm not one to blindly believe what I'm told. If asking for evidence of ones statement is not acceptable here then please inform me as such. Till then I'll ask for proof, so facts will be known and proven.
As you may tell I'm a very scientific person, and knowing this might help some understand my view points.
