Hey guys - my grandmother bought a new PT Cruiser in 2002 (she's now 81! :-laf ). I think the car now has no more than 4,000 miles on it, and as far as I know, the oil has only been changed once, and that was by me in the fall/winter of 2003.
My question is because she rarely drives the car and obviously doesn't have it serviced often, would it be a good idea to start running a synthetic oil? I don't mind changing it for her, but I'm hardly ever around anymore so I thought the synthetic might help compensate for her extended intervals.
Would switching to Mobil 1 or something be a good idea? Is it too soon for a car that new?
When she does drive it, it's only for very short trips around town. It rarely sees any highway miles.
Thanks guys!
