Newest 3rd gen member ,new 2 me 05

Well after being a hardcore 2nd genner I just added to my collection with an 05 slt sb qc 4x4 auto with 24k miles on it. Super clean unit. 2 tone deep molten red and silver on bottom. Got it for 26,500 + fees. Well below book value. Got it from an import car dealer that isn't up on pickups. :-laf. They just got it in a couple days earlier and hadn't done their research on it until I got them under 27k. Has side steps and a box cover and sprayon bedliner. Has an astro start car starter. 3. 73 gears 11. 5 diff open carrier :{



Since I have my Bombed 02 for play this will be a daily commuter and trailer puller "Taking my 02 to events and the pontoon to the water"I just want the simple basic upgrades on this one for mileage like intake exh and maybe a smarty jr. Thinking of doing a muffler delete since it already has 4" exh and a psc/cool black hose and smarty jr.



Anything that I need to know about the fuel system on an 05 I ask this from having an 02 vp44:-laf I haven't followed the 3rd gen too much other than knowing the 06's have mileage issues is partly why I stayed at 05. Does this one have transfer pump issues?

1. There have not been very many failures of the 05 lift pumps but when the lift pump dies the truck probably will not start. I don't think that the Cp3 has ever died from a bad lift pump.



2. Particles as low as 2 micron have been shown to damage the fuel pumps and injectors. Glacier Diesel Power has a couple of good filter and pump setups that work good. I have their 2 micron filter with bigline kit and am bery happy with the instructions, fit and finish of everything. I ran the first filter 15,000 miles before I changed it.



3. There have been some problems with the Water in Fuel indicating system. I know TEstraub had a destroyed fuel system from water contamination and he never got the WIF light. But he did get a spare fuel rail
