Her only complaint was the base model seats which I wasnt really a fan of either. Are the premium cloth seats any better or do you need to get the buckets to have a nice place to rest your rump?

My 2010 1/2 ton is the ST (Tradesman) package. I wasn't a fan of the seats at first, especially the headrest angle. However in the nearly 80K we have on it now, I have grown to really love them. For a low end cloth seat, they show absolutely no wear. That truck has a ton of highway miles on it and I never get out of it feeling cramped or uncomfortable. I like them much more than the premium power seats in my '07 and I would have no problem buying that seat again.

My old 06 had the same seats as your 07, and yes, they are more than adequate and I never had a problem with them. My wife is a very uncompromising woman however and has been spoiled by the factory leather seats in the many Volvo's she has had. She wants leather in the truck as well but we both have problems having to step up to a laramie to get them. If the cushions in the tradesman seats were better I could talk her into the 25th anniversary package that Genos has, but unfortunately the seats we sat in were the best the the tradesman had to offer. She might be willing to tolerate the premium cloth buckets of an SLT or Big Horn with a nice seat cover if the cushioning is better. Will have to go crawl a few more lots to find out I suppose.

You and I have the opposite problem. I want leather in our next truck and my wife wants nothing to do with it. We have had leather in several vehicles over the years and she constantly said that they were too hot or too cold, even if they were heated or cooled. Go figure.

We have 2 kids (3 and 10) so the leather does have a functional purpose, sooo much easier to clean. On the flip side she really likes the black vinyl flooring in the truck we test drove for the same reasons so she is pushing for leather seats and no carpet. She is gonna have to give on one or the other cause you cant do a carpet delete on the laramies. Is it possible to special order an SLT, Big Horn or even a tradesman with leather seats?

No leather on the SLT for sure. I believe I read somewhere that there are "Catskin" brand? leather covers avalable for the premium Big Horn seats available through the dealer, but don't quote me for sure.

I also have young children. We had an '05 Silverado when my oldest daughter was a baby that had a black rubber floor. It was the easiest thing ever to clean. We have another baby due in a few weeks. I'd be tempted to buy a vinyl floor in our next truck knowing how easy they are to maintain.

Get the truck you want and then get aftermarket leather from Katzkin or Road Wire....they have a ton of choice's and are often better quality than factory.

I'll add my affirmative vote for Marathon seat covers. They are waterproof and fit very well, but the Cordura nylon is NOT comfortable on bare skin. An elbow on the center console can get an abrasion quite easily! Although after a juice spill by my granddaughter, I am an even bigger fan!
