so i will be moving to NM this summer. but, being military, i can keep my truck reg here in Idaho. my question is how much was it for any of you NM guys to reg your 3rd gen in NM?

thanks!

NM has a flat rate registration that is based on your GVWR. Less than $75/per year for your bottom end weight class but could be more if you decided to take it to the top of the weight class. If you plan to return to Idaho you might not want to change your registration unless it would equate to a big savings in the overall.

You can legally keep your registration in ID if your home of record is ID. If not you are required to register in your declared home state or the state you reside in. Sometimes I found it easier to maintain my Texas official home of record but register vehicles in the state where I was assigned.

I think I paid $87 for the 07. 5 3500 last year and $75 for the 96 2500. I agree with HBarlow to keep it registered in your home state. The Prevost office can help with that. Becides Here in NM if it is expired or not even registered you would be in the Majority of vehical drivers (LOL). The military here is sticky about current reg's and insurance, I just wish the rest of the state was. Where about in NM might you be stationed?

I think I pay $92 year for a 2006 Megacab Dually 4x4. Higher than it should be, but lots cheaper than most (Try AZ or CA ).

Thanks for your service, Ducman.

PM me when you get here. I think you will enjoy our city. My wife and I do. Been here since '70 and can't think of any other place we would rather live. Kirtland is a good post and we have many friends that have retired from there and decided to stay local.

Gotta love that sweet military welfare. I used to ask asked people I saw in VA with Oregon tags (I lived in OR for many years) where they were from in OR. Seems none were actually from OR but "had an aunt in Portland... etc". I gave up after 15 tries.

ya. for me ill prob go with NM plates, just to make like better for me. now if i was still active id would stay with idaho plates. but being that the wife is the active one prob just better for me to get NM plates, license etc. just hope i can get a good custom plate. . he he he.
