NMEA or other Interface to Nav?

Is there any kind of NMEA or other interface to get location out of the nav and/or send waypoints in? I'm not talking about loading POI files, but sending the vehicle location out to an external device or receiving a waypoint from an external device so the Nav would display it on the map?
