Hi,
I recharged my cooling system, it was within range, although I added a lb or two to get it more in the central part of the range. I also fixed a vacuum leak, but I'm still getting not cold air, and in fact this am, it was putting out warm air. The hot to cold knob has gotten 'notchy'. I'm wondering if there are other things I can check before deciding to fix the mixture doors-I've heard of somebody who sells metal doors that won't break again, also he has a better way to replace them-you don't have to pull the dash and put 8 hours just removing things to GET to the doors.
Does anybody have any ideas? It's been in the hundreds here in Sacramento lately, and it's cooler rolling down windows that turning the 'cooling' system on!

I don't know if the '94 is the same as a '97, but my mixture door is opened & closed by a cable, not a vacuum actuator like the other doors. To access it I have to tip the dash down by dropping the steering wheel, removing the screws under the windshield and loosening the bolts on either side under the side kick panels.

If you added 2lbs to your system when it was already in range you are way over charged

was 94 R12 ?. R12 is more forgiving, don't know about 2lbs tho. R134 is very finicky if over or under.

Second gen trucks beginning with '94 were changed over to R134. First gens were R12. I've found it's best with R134 systems to evacuate the system with a recycling machine, pull a vacuum, and then refill by weight.
