So a few year back I pulled back my dash to replace the recirculation door and air box for the Heating and Cooling system. I do not wish to do this again. 8 hrs of non fun.

Now my foot vent will only put out a faint bit of air. I can get 100% vent, 100% defrost but no feet. When I try to mix vent with feet or defrost with feet I get the vent or defrost but not feet. I do have temp control.

Since there are four doors total in the system any one know what one I need to check or change. All my searches don't say what each door does.

1 - Recert
2 - Mod door in the upper part
3 - blend door
4 - mod door below the mix door

I would like to be able to order up the part(s) prior to pulling the dash off. It is getting chilly in WI and my feet won't be happy in a few weeks.

According to HeaterTreater, mode door #2 controls the flow between the floor and windshield defrosters. I have the same issue and have been reluctant to change it since its one of the most difficult to change. I have a 2009 so i also have to check with them if the doors they sell will work, they only list up to 2008.

I have all four HT doors in my signature truck and they work great. There is actually a fifth door associated with the temp. control that does not break. I did the recirc. door several years ago and had the local dealer do the other three, and do them the correct way by removing the HVAC assembly and not cutting it as HT recommends.

Thank you for the feedback. I had a feeling it was mode 2 when I watched the HT video but wasn't positive. Also hard to find the parts online except from HT.
Going to have to get some quotes for cost of shop labor and look to see if I have a weekend to blow. Like I said I did the full airbox for the recerc door and it took me 8hrs. I think for the mode 2 door you have to do more than just drop the stearing wheel and pull the dash back.

For those who did the HT doors. I plan on keeping the truck for 4-6 more years is the HT worth the cost or am I good to order stock ones from the dealer?

OH what fun!!! But the -4 degree temps are making my feet coooold!!!!

You will find that the stock doors from the dealer, supposedly improved, cost more than the HT doors. It was a no-brainer for me, especially since the dealer didn't mind installing them. They work great.
