My truck blows cold air no matter what the knob is set at. Of course now that this happened it is cold out. Anyone have anything like this happen? How much work is involved getting to the mix door so I can atleast manually turn the heat on.

Well, if you temp gauge is rising you GOT heat - just not in the cab. if you have full coolant in your system (supposedly lack of cab heat is a symptom) and If your blower motor is running then I would suspect the blend damper is stuck or the cable is unhooked so that air is not directed through the heater core. All incoming air is directed through the A/C core to cool and dry, then the blend damper directs the air around the heater core or through it in varying amounts you select to 'mix' the heat. Check and see if you can see the cable moving when you manipulate the heat level control.

I'm not 100% sure on your year but I bet that still - neurosurgery tools would make the job easier!!;) Seriously, on mine the blend door cable hooks in on the top of the heaterbox. Sometime the securing clip on the sheath pops loose - then the whole lower cable end just shuffles back/forth rather than driving the door. Hope that's all it is.
