it's the design of the injection system. downfall of the HEUI system. the HPOP needs to to build hydraulic [lube oil] pressure to actuate the injectors. all heui engines crank longer than most other injection systems. i was working on a cat 3126e at school with heui and it needs longer to crank too than the 60series DDC across from it [the EUI's fire pretty quick]

There is a new CAT in my stables. She cranks quite some time before it starts. Also, as opposed to the Cummins, the Wait to Start light is illuminated all the while the heat grids are "on" and engine running. The Allison dealer told me there is an engine warning light on when he was running it. They do remain on for some time. If you were to start up cold and pull it into the shop, it will not warm to the point of shutting the light off.



The C7 has a very deep mello tone to it which I'm often mistaking for my fuel delivery truck. Don't sound nutt'n like the 5. 9 ... ... nor does it smell like one.
