Talk about raked over the coals

Variations in "dry" brake fluid conductivity affecting tester results

Sad, but though I’ve never driven or even seen one in person, I could never warm up to this mill. It’s just not “Cummins enough” for me.
BTW, look at that GM in-line 6 design. I feel the same way about that engine.

I've seen a few of them running around in my area, never had a chance to talk to an owner though. It seems like this engine was DOA 10 years ago. Maybe FCA will rethink their decision to abandon it in the 1500. Doesn't matter, I still don't want one.

A builder friend bought one and brags on it. Only problems he's had is when a local fueling stop put one of the 2.5 gallon boxes of DEF in his fuel tank. It lite his dash up like a Christmas tree.

I just saw 2 on a 7 mile drive. They are out there, but I agree it’s not the correct build specs.

Wonder why they are cancelling it thou??

Are there any other volume users of the 5.0?

The 2020 is supposed to be a major refresh, probably the best time to make a change like this.

Just the other day I saw an article stating Nissan sold something like 50,000 Titans in all of 2018. I didn't see the numbers on the 5.0 but it must be a very small take rate.

I'd have to double check but im pretty sure Ford sells that many trucks in a month or close to it.

That whole package was ill-conceived. Too heavy to be light, too light to be heavy, and not spectacular MPG.

If you guys remember, I tried really hard to like it when I was after my last 1/2 ton. Test drove at least 3 of them if I remember correctly.

As you said, it has similar or lower payload, towing, and MPG numbers than say a well optioned big 3 1/2 ton and was priced at a HD truck price point. It would have been just as cheap to buy another HD Ram, Ford, or GM and call it a day instead of the Cummins powered Titan.

Now that I’m thinking about it, are all Titans XD’s? is that a trim level? I was behind one just this morn. It was a XD, but had a puny tailpipe.

XD is a trim level with either the 5.6 gasser or 5.0 Cummins as options. On paper, the 5.6 should be a good engine, roughly 400 hp/400tq mated to a 7 speed trans.

A friend of mine had a XD with the Cummins. According to him it had severe electrical problems and the dealer techs didn’t know how to work on it. Ended up having the engine replaced under warranty and then traded it in on something different.
