before straight piped 16-18 mpg daily diriving, after straight pipe 17-19 mpg daily. dont have any numbers for long highway driving post straight pipe.

if you drive very conservatively the higher the setting you run the better mileage you are going to get I think since you will be adding that much more timing. if you have the revo i would change the timing to 5 and run sw 7 or 9 and cruise at 60-65 for an extended trip and see what that nets you... as long as you dont flat foot the throttle you should be alright...

My friend straight piped his '05 and performance suffered. Next we installed a turboback 5" Magnaflow ss with flow through muffler. Performance returned, but you still have to shout to carry on a conversation. :{ We've got emissions coming here and I think he'll be looking for a stock 4" exhaust to reattach his cat and go with a quieter muffler again.

smarty,,, mhm... . I like it as much as the truck... . in city,,, i get at least 1 more mpg... . i have hand calculated so many times,,, I am sick and tired of it. Cold weather is worse then warm,, so figure this into your calculations.

B] When running 70 or above stock mileage drops and is no better than 16mpg. With SMARTY default settings on any Catcher power level I am able to get 17mpg from 75 to 85mph. Around 70 SMARTY or not 17 is all I can get. [/B]

Yep, it's your right foot. It has been discussed here numerous times, the faster you go the faster your mileage drops. What do you want 25mpg at 100mph? I can get 20 mpg at 62 mph on long trips where I may run 70 or better it drops to around 18 or less.

I concur, exactly (the bottom paragraph)!

I see several guys here with newer trucks than mine and my knowledge is only 2nd Gen VP-44.

I did a lot of stupid stuff to my truck that really ruined the fuel milage. Lifting it and 37" rock crawler style tires really took a toll on the MPG. I picked up a Smarty for several reasons and of course the "tire size" adjustment is much cleaner than the Superlift True Speed.

I travel between Butte Montana, Boise Idaho and Paradise California. The Smarty set up on "fuel saver" has allowed me to reach 19. 1 if I keep my speed at 61 or 62 MPH. At 55 (ugh) I can achieve 21 MPG but, boy that's a boring speed. I have an auto transmission and I did dump the 3:54's for the 4:10's.

I'm very surprized that I get this kind of fuel efficiency. I just dumped the camper shell and lost 300 Lbs and I have not had a chance to recalculate. I tip the scales at 7,400 Lbs... honestly the Smarty set for fuel milage has helped me. On a long trip I've picked up 1 to 1. 5 over the factory ECM's management ability by itself considering all the "stupid-stuff" I've done to mess up fuel milage. I do drive conservatively and as SHobbs has pointed out managing the loud peddle is a developed skill. I didn't expect the Smarty to pay for itself with milage enhancements but, I do enjoy the other aspects of the Smarty and if a little fuel milage comes with the investment then fine business. I notice no "smoking" on the fuel saver setting but, if I want to "roll coal" I'll just reprogram to another level.

The overall features of the Smarty was my reason for making the investment and Marco and Bob have been good to me.

Cheers and Merry Christmas

ok i just went from san diego to afton wy with my s0-6 smarty on #3 tm-4 tq-2 rp-1. i got a best of 18. 98 on the way home. on that tank i filled in ceder city ut and made it to san diego. on the way up i got from s. d. to salt lake i got 16. 58. from salt lake to afton wy with some driveing local around afton and some idil time due to cold temps i got 15. 47. then from afton to ceder city ut 16. 63.

it was me my wife and 2yr old with 400lbs of bags and misc in bed from sd. salt lake.

then from salt lake to afton it was the prev 3 plus my bro, wife, and six yr old. then from afton back to salt lake was the 6 of us then salt to san diego was just the 3 of us.

i set curse control at 70-79 mph during the whole trip.

any suggestions for beter fuel econ? beside slowdown or dose it sound right for what i was doing?

I'd say you are doing good. ;)

I never ran mine (the 04. 5) empty much but loaded the mileage was unchanged going from the Edge Juice to the Smarty. Since I dumped the 04. 5, dad has been running the S-06 revo in his '03. He tinkered with it and decided to leave it on SW #5 with torque set to stock (I think), RP default, and timing either 3 or 4 I don't remember which. That gets him 2-2. 5mpg better than stock.

For whatever reason he changed it to SW #7 last night. He said it didn't have as much "giddy up" as the EZ. I reminded him it probably wouldn't seem like it with the torque set to stock. ... old dogs new tricks...

Keeping SMARTY losing the DUMMY

As difficult as it may be I have always preferred to drive slower rather than faster. I have found a tendency to "use all I got", with the SMARTY turned up.

I will be keeping the SMARTY and losing the dummy. Yeah, I said it. DUMMY for two reasons. I recently saw the repair bill of a friend who has similar setup to mine. He exceeded the safe temperature egt and now has valve damage, piston damage, and God knows what else, to the tune of over $3K. The DUMMY in this case is me-I don't have egt gage-yet. I haven't pushed her hard am am not too worried, but the concern is still there. He had gages and ignored the high temps. The second DUMMY is also me. I have indeed learned that when I use setting #3 TQ on 3, Timing on 4, Rail pressure on 2. I get fabulous results.

I am man enough to admit I jumped the gun and did not research this product enough before badmouthing it. Bob and Marco, please accept my appologies.

I have noticed an increase hand calculated in the realm of 1. 75 to 2. 25 miles per gallon when using the above parameters and driving conservatively under 65. I will continue to use SMARTY. EGT gage on the way..... fate favors the foolish. . I have been lucky so far.
