Just home with our new 2016 Ram 2500 Limited.
A little over 2000 miles after leaving the dealer, a break in of 400 plus miles before towing and then into the hills of NC and Tennesee before heading home to RI.

A careful check of fuel used vs miles impressed the hell out of me!
The final 1000 miles were driven in one long day. Some traffic for the first hour and then highways home. Generally hilly terrain for more than half of the drive.

Three fill ups, two during he drive one at the finish:

First fill, 241.8 miles and 14.4 gallons for 16.8 mpg.
Second fill up, 376.9 additional miles and 23.4 gallons for 16.1 mpg.
Final fill up, 294.8 additional miles and 18.1 gallons for 16.48 mpg.

Not bad! My previous F-150/5.4 would have struggled to get 12 mpg driven that way! Never mind all the power, the exhaust brake, the better load handling etc.etc...

By the way, the lie-o-meter was remarkably accurate! It was within .1 mpg for the entire trip!

Nice choice of trailer too. Love towing my airstream. There are a few of us on Tdr that have had airstreams

When you say fuel used vs miles, are you going off fuel used in the gauge cluster or gallons at the pump? I'm asking because you also said your lie-o-meter is remarkably accurate. If you would, in your gauges, find where it shows miles driven since last filter change and gallons used. Divide the miles driven by the gallons used and see if it matches your mpg shown in the gauges.

When I do this on mine, it is no where near accurate. Just wondering which way you are doing it.

Im using mileage as reported by the odometer and gallons used to fill the tank.
I haven't even seen the screen where it shows gallons used since last filter change. Ive seen a screen showing % of fuel filter life remaining and one like it for the oil filter but not the screen you are referring to...
t meters.
The lie-o-meter is actually 2 different meters. One associated with the screen that shows your instantaneous fuel mileage and another associated with your resettable trip mileage. I reset both at the same time and they agree with each other and with the results hand calculated.

I know exactly where that park is, I live just a few miles from there. Nice campsites and views. I like your truck and Airstream..... Glad to hear you got great mileage :-laf

This screen. See, mine shows 2893 miles driven and 192 gallons used. That divided, equals 15.07 mpg. But, my screen shows I'm averaging 12.3 mpg. That's a big difference.

I reset my fuel mileage with every tank. Was the average fuel mileage might not have been reset at the same time as the fuel filter? That is a large difference!

I've been resetting Trip A and leaving a Trip B but I also reset the mileage indicator on the instantaneous gauge in the display. That would be the third reset if I actually reset Trip B... Are you getting that one?

It surprises Me how accurate the LOM is a times, To make claims of MPG it must be back up by HC, Simply stated their is NO device(s) to measure the fuel consumption, it would take 1 to measure the feed volume, another to measure the CP3 return volume and another to measure the return volume of un used fuel form the Injectors and compare there values to accurately determine fuel used. All of the values changes constantly and very according to conditions and demands.

Omaha to Newport Beach 2015 2500 6 speed 24.1 mpg. 18-21 mpg in city Conservative driving! Paper GPS vs. RAM computer almost equal. Dam! These trucks ROCK!

My best has been 18 hc. My old truck would always see north of 20 with a best of 24 and change.
