My second fill-up shows 13.3 mpg hand calc'd with the LOM showing 12.7 (for around town driving). Was expecting better, maybe after it gets broken in it will improve...

My wife and I drove to Reno NV. last week, came back home on the 30th. We only used Or I should say we only put fuel in before we left and then again after 300 or so miles, and then we topped off in Reno, and then again in Pearsonville Ca. On US 395.

We have not fueled up as of yet, here at home. On my Ford I needed to put fuel in almost every 185 miles. and we had a 50 Gal. and a 20 gal tank on the vehicle, usually it took four tanks of gasoline to get from San Diego to Reno. And we were usually suck fumes.#@$%!

I have read on here, and verified on my truck, that the average mpg reported is not from last reset, but some shorter period. If you drive long periods in the same conditions, it will be very accurate. If you drive a while on the highway and then a while in town, at some point the highway mileage will "age out" of the average mileage calculation. I think they do that to try to be more accurate when they estimate mileage until empty, figuring that your most recent mileage is the best estimate of mileage in the future.

I reset two of the three mpg meters with every refill. So far they have been remarkably accurate with .3 mph being the furthest discrepancy... I've begun loading the data into a Fuely account to track everything...

Both my evics were very close as well. Had a 14 auto got about 18-18.5 hwy @65-70. For no particular reason bought a 16 g56 it got 20.7 last trip i took at same speedss. Evic was within .2 or so whereas older ones were off 2 or 3 mpg. All hand calculated. Empty. :)

Just home with our new 2016 Ram 2500 Limited.
A little over 2000 miles after leaving the dealer, a break in of 400 plus miles before towing and then into the hills of NC and Tennesee before heading home to RI.

A careful check of fuel used vs miles impressed the hell out of me!
The final 1000 miles were driven in one long day. Some traffic for the first hour and then highways home. Generally hilly terrain for more than half of the drive.

Three fill ups, two during he drive one at the finish:

First fill, 241.8 miles and 14.4 gallons for 16.8 mpg.
Second fill up, 376.9 additional miles and 23.4 gallons for 16.1 mpg.
Final fill up, 294.8 additional miles and 18.1 gallons for 16.48 mpg.

Not bad! My previous F-150/5.4 would have struggled to get 12 mpg driven that way! Never mind all the power, the exhaust brake, the better load handling etc.etc...

By the way, the lie-o-meter was remarkably accurate! It was within .1 mpg for the entire trip!

Bruce

What speed(s) did you drive? I noticed a 2-3 mpg difference when pulling a 22 foot starcraft bumper pull (travel trailer) at 55 mph vs 70 mph. The starcraft is obviously not as streamlined as the airstream. And sits a bit higher.

Is that a 24 footer?
