Lost your resume

Yes I have had this problem ! The problem turned out to be

along the left side of the upper steering column just in front of the turn signal switch where the tilt column hinges. The hinging action eventually cracked the copper inside the small wires leading down the column. No visual break was evident so dont be fooled. Just ohm every wire after you remove the upper column cover. Hope this helps. If this is the problem, pick up some solder/shrink connectors at NAPA in the smallest size insert heat shield between the other wires and use a heat gun. etc. Hope this helps.

The above, the button contacts go bad, and bad connections under the dash and at the control module under the hood. Dealer replaced all the pieces and couldn't make it work. Had to have somebody trace down all the connections and clean/fix them. Good luck.

DG,

I had the same problem. I had "Set" but "Resume" didn't work. Took the switch apart. There was something loose or something like that, but with my Bull in China Shop technique, I broke it beyond repair. Got one at the dealer for $37. 50. I hated like heck paying that much for a small piece of plastic (well, there's a couple wires too), but with all my highway driving, it was a legsaver.

I have found that method very useful in eliminating strange/unreliable performance on a number of things. A trailer tire that won't stay pumped up will no longer be a problem if you run it till it smokes off the rim. Good friend of mine, after waking up to a floor full of water the second time, found the stoppage in a commode with a five pound hammer. Eliminated the problem forever. 'BICS', very useful at times.
