Hi, I am hoping someone will be able to help me. I have a 02 DCT and I ran it a little warmer than I should, so I decided to pull the head and replace the head gasket. The truck was running fine but I thought that I needed to replace the gasket anyway. So when I got it tore apart, there was no obvious sign of any blown gasket. Set the heard to the head shop, told them to fix whatever was wrong with it. When I went to get the head, they said that it had gotten hot and was warped. So I replaced the head gasket. While I was that far into it, the side tappet cover was leaking, so I decided to replace the cover while I was that close. I also replaced the Crankshaft Position sensor while I was there. Got it all back together and it was running really bad for a few days, couldn't drive it. It would idle okay, but when you accelerated it would just spit and sputter. Then the lift pump lost power and would not come on., I checked and there was no power to the lift pump at all anytime the switch was turned on. So my thinking was that something came unplugged somewhere. Well I could not find anything unplugged. I decided to take it back down and then worry about the lift pump later. So I was thinking that the injection pump key way had gotten smashed. So I got another key and removed the injection pump again, and while I was there I pulled the head again to make sure everything was good, and it was. The key was not smashed at all, but I replaced the key with a new one and got it all back together. Still has no power on the lift pump anytime. I know that the ecm controls the lift pump. Do you think it is just a coincidence that it stopped working while I was working on the head, and the ecm part that controls the lift pump just went out at that time? I have it all back together again, but have not tried to start it yet. What are y'all s recommendations on what to check or do next? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
