If the pigtail has the same mounting you can go by location. If not, you need to figure it out because I am doing the swap tonight.

I am replacing the ignition switch and the headlight switch and I am going to install the trailer wiring harness. I figured that since I am going to be putting in alot of relays anyway, I might as well go ahead and replace the prone-to-strand-you parts. That way I will have peace of mind(and I won't burn my knee on the steering column cover again).

I was going to do it last night, but a buddy told me about a poker game, and guess what I chose to do?

I figure that if I run an 8 gauge wire from the battery to the fuse block and use the key on from the ig switch just as a trigger for a relay in the 8 ga wire, I will remove almost all load from the ig switch. And basically I can use the original wire to anything as a relay trigger and run new wire into existing circuits and make everything work better. I will be doing the headlight relay mod and finishing the blower relay mod this weekend also.

Dieselman ol bud got my 97 switch in and the new harness for towing and got no cab or running lights. I assume you need a wire to run the relay. Where do you run that from and to if you dont mind me asking? Didn't see a place to hook it.

Leper just wanted to tell ya that the switch is in and working great but i put the towing harness on and have no outside cab and rear running lights. Dieselman ran a wire to the relay and i quick replied him to see about the wire he ran. Leper again thank you very much for the diagrams you sent to me they where very helpful! Thanks again to all that help me with my problem and hope to be of assistance to some at another time! JLIGHT

There has to be a wire not connected or a fusible link bad. I don't think the trailer harness has anything to do with it.

Thanks for the props.

And you are welcome.

I have spent quite a bit of time on other forums and I believe the least I can do to repay others for helping me is to help others out.

I've owned a diesel for 2 months now. lol

I finally got ya a pic of what I got, I forgot to look at the recipt though.

JLight, I'm pretty sure that I just ran a hot wire right off the battery, I need to look at the recipt, I bet its been longer than I think.

WELL IT WORKS! I got the wiring fix this morning. Leper was right the ground wire was of the switch under the dash. Hooked it up and walla! Dieselman no need to run the wire to the back. The relay is wired in the harness. Thanks again to all for putting up with my questions. Hope i can be of assistance to someone someday.

Well we towed my trailer at night with NO PROBLEM and I SUGGEST that switch and tow harness to all concerned. Again thanks to all that saved me leg work on this problem! Leper I will send you a picture you tell me what you want a picture of. JILGHT
