have a problem that maybe someone out there can help me with?? was cruising at approxomatly 75 mph in 6th gear, engine got very loud as if a rod were knocking, puffed out a bunch of blue smoke, then quieted down and smoke stopped, but has lost power, and has a slight miss under load, i think maybe a injecter went bad. idols smooth, but louder than when i first got the truck, oil pressure is ok, pretty sure there is no internal engine damage, think loud noise due to too much fuel dumped in one cylinder, no check engine , or service engine lights came on? will be taking to service garage on mon. but would like to know what is ????
any help is appreciated... .....

A couple of guys in Oklahoma had the same problem... but they where pulling 20Klbs of hay each when it happened.
You are describing very much what happened to them. After this incident they had no power to pull a load.
The dealership told them they both had blown the head gasket by number four cylinder on both trucks.
I gave these guys the address to this website so that they could get info or share info... I do not see them on here yet. They do work a lot and have VERY limited access to the net.
A happier note, The George Foreman Grill is now available in different colors.
Now you can Grill with a Grill that matches yer truck.
LOL
And I bet a few of you thought I got fried by my Grill huh?
Anyway, I am eager to hear about whats happening to these trucks as I am seriously pondering an order... after the bugs get worked out and the 'torque' gets delivered at a more managable RPM range then what has been seen on the dynos with these trucks.
High revs, low torque means low fuel mileage.
Ready for the flames.

billblanton: Were you towing or running empty? How much mileage do you have on it? Please keep us informed.
drivingnotdreaming: Do you have any other details on the Oklahoma guys? What did GM do about it?
Anyone else heard of similar problems? I sure don't want to buy a Ford but at the same time, I don't want to waste $35K+ and listen to my husband swear for the next 20 years. He's scaried to death about those aluminum heads. He has worked for GM for over 30 years and never saw where aluminum heads would hold up past 80k miles without blowing head gaskets or cracking cylinder heads.

I got word of this while I was in northern Texas. A fella with a Dodge was at a GM dealer in OK just east of Borger TX and was looking at a DMAX to add to his fleet of cattle haulers. These guys run hay in KS and OK... from what I understand they have a fleet of trucks out there including Ford, Dodge and GM. I only spoke to Mike briefly on the cell phone from Borger and gave him this address to see if he can get help or not.
He told me that GM had to have a rep go to the dealership to pursue this further.
One of the trucks had just turned 8,000 miles.
They both had the Allison.
Mike, if you are reading this, please comment here for us ok?
Grillin's good if its on a GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL!!!!

For you new guys, Drivingwhilegrilling used to hang out here often when the "Battle Zone" was hot. He is a Duramax basher and his comments are suspect. Let's see if he can produce these two guys he mentions and the dealer examining the trucks. You will also get tired of his endless promotion of the GF grill.

APR2000, never once did I bash the Duramax... go back and reread. I am one of the few that has praised the DMAX and am leaning towards owning one for my company.
You probably own one of those pc o' poop Hamilton Beach wanna be grills too.
When it comes to shelling out the dough I gotta know.
And letting you folks know about this mishap is one way of learning.
Cheers
maybe you deep fry instead.
