Well amigos... tis that time in the career - Movin' Time! Off to Colorado Springs, CO. You know, you never realize just how much stuff you accumulate until you have to pack it all up - even the stuff I'm not planning to use (can never get rid of anything... right... ). I sold my house here in SoCal and am ready to press on - been so busy with all this that I've been out of touch for a long time - my apologies amigos. :(

Seriously though, I've been out of touch for a while because of long-term events at work, and I'm just about done there and ready to pack up the house, including the computer, for a few weeks until the movers unpack it all.

Should be a great trip. A good bud from Pittsburgh hasen't been out West and he's flying out to make the trip to the 'Springs with me. We'll be heading out on the 16th, 28' car hauler (with the Demon inside) in tow, hitting several stops along the way.

We're going to hit a big Mopar show in Van Nuys, CA (Northern Los Angeles), stop by a pro shop that built the original General Lee's for the Dukes of Hazzard on Sunday, head to Vegas Sun afternoon and hit some slots and buffets, jam out Monday, over Hoover Dam (gotta take the dam tour... ), and head for the big ole' slice in the Earth - the Grand Canyon. We'll hit that Monday afternoon and check it all out, and press on back North to pick up I-15 again, and head up through Utah and see the scenery - Arches, Brice Canyon... ). Then hit I-70 East right into Grand Junction, CO, up and over the big ole honkin hill called the Rockies (keeping a watchful eye on the transmission temps and pyro), down the other side into the arms of Denver, hang a right and press on into the 'Springs. Really looking forward to the trip and having a nice smooth time. Rig is running great, power is of course great, and the 28' car hauler aught to be pretty much unnoticed. Gonna take it easy - the transmission is old but I think it'll be fine - no OD on the big stuff. Power is everywhere but we're in no rush.

I took the 85 dually out there two weekends ago - checked the route, and towed the Challenger on the 18' dovetail. Just had to get some stuff out there in advance.

The plans for ASA are delayed a few months until I get settled out there and get crankin again. Sorry amigos, but I'll be back in action hopefully by June-July - Gotta get all new sources. But, I got a nice big house out there with a big honkin detached garage (read: Hangar, toy box, whatever) and I should have pretty good stoorage for all the aforementioned stuff... and to begin the big project - the Rig.

The rig is going to be my Summer/Fall/Winter project that will end up being a combination of my 85 4-door dually, my 93 diesel, and a whole bunch of new stuff, including a custom dually dana 80, DTT 2nd gen trans, 4x4 conversion, custom air suspension, fresh everything, new interior, and lots of mods. Not really sure how long it will take or when I'll actually start, but I'm setting out to build the rig from hell that'll tow a house, go off road, and cruise on the highway going to my favorite shows like a dream. - I got the bombing bug way bad... . :p

Oh, and keep an eye on the list below - it's gonna change. Let's just say it's time to add something old, and something new. You know it's not gonna be a new truck, but you know it is gonna be a Dodge!;)

See ya my friends - catch ya on the flip side.

Hey Sam,

Welcome to the Springs, though I am extending this invitation from 1000 mi away :{ If you want to avoid Denver rush hour, take C-470 south to I-25, though that can be jammed up with wrecks and traffic as well. You know about that, right?

Exhaust Readers on N. Nevada (I-25 Bus Loop) can do an E-test for ya- $40, I think. If you dont leave a trail of smoke, you'll pass. 91 D250 I had two years ago passed with 29%, and it is the WORST smoker I've EVER owned.

Anyway, when you get settled in, take 94 east past Ellicott, to the top of the ridge, turn around, and come back over the ridge- you will see Pike's Peak rising out of the Springs, and it kind of dwarfs the town. Good restaurant in Calhan is across from the Loaf-N-Jug. Used to be the Western Omelette; it changed hands, but kept the same staff. Ex manages that (or did when I came back to the Outhouse of Hades), so it may not be too wise to mention you know me;) though she will no doubt notice the CTD if she is there. She almost got into a fist fight with a customer one time over which was better- CTD or PSD; I trained her well; maybe too well... ... . Ah nevermind.

Good luck with your operation. I may drop by and say hi when I get back in the area (state of Colo- anywhere but HERE!!). Have a safe trip.

Daniel

Thanks much Dan - will do. It's actually a trip -back- to the Springs - I lived there for 5 years before I came out to Cali, and I'm really looking forward to getting back out there. Lots of very good car buds there - we're gonna have a goooood Summer.

I can't really hide the CTD - can hear it before ya see it!

Thanks again,

- saa

Hey Sam,... we're gonna miss you this year ..... it was great to have you up for the dyno event last year... .

I hope the whole move/settle goes well for you. Sounds like ya got some good company to keep you awake on the ride.

Don't be a stranger in here,,, heck you can get someone to post/PM/email for you.

All the best and look forward to hearing from you...

regards, Bob...

Sam, Where are you getting stationed at in Colorado, I'm over in Korea right now. I hope your PCS goes good for you.

Chris

Sam,

Have a safe and uneventful move! Going up the Rockies from teh West isn't as bad as the other way around (if memory serves me correctly). A great alternate route, butprobably not with a trailer is S at Glenwood Springs through Aspen and up over Independence Pass. Some absolutely incredible scenery!

Look forward to seeing you back on the board.

Carl

Heck, I may see you on the road on the 16th or 17th. I'll be leaving Tucson on the 16th, heading up to Oregon to visit the folks and do some salmon fishing, and may be going around the dam or through Vegas - haven't decided yet. Keep your eyes open for a white/gray D250 with a pop-up cabover. :)

Know what you mean about moving, too... just swapping homes across town is a PITA, so I don't even want to think about swapping states.

Good luck with the move, and let us know when the ASA stuff is back online. I think I see a new intake under my hood... . ;)

Hi Sam! Good to hear from yah.

I have family in two other towns across the US;

Naples FL and ... ... Colorado Springs CO

Family is heading out that way in May for the graduation of a cousin from the Air Force Academy. I will not be in attendance for that.

Hope all is well and goes as planned.

Greenleaf

Way to go! I hope the move goes well, I know you've been planning it for some time.

And don't forget to get ahold of me on the flip side! We still have some... ahem... "business" to take care of! :)

Man, I love all these top secret projects... :D

Hey SamsRam. I'm in CO. Littleton to be exact. My brother-in-law is in Grand Junction too! If you have any troubles, don't hesitate to ask for assistance!

Oh Yeah! Welcome to Colorado!(Again!)

Andrew

Hey Sam,

Welcome back to the Springs! Let me know if there's anything I can help with... I know a few guys who drag race older Mopars (2 guys with Demons, a Roadrunner, 'Cuda, and Challenger) so if you're into that I'll introduce you.

Have a safe trip

John

Thanks for all the replies amigos!

Pastor Bob - T'was great to finally meet you in person up at Dyno Fest 03 - what a great time. New hardware and the help form you and the gang at PDR was great. If there's an event this year I may still come out - just to hang around and get the speed secrets, but my rig will be 'under construction' for most of the year... but there's always 2005! Catch ya laters pal.

Chris - I'll be at Pete field. How long are you in K? When will you be coming back? Stay safe compadre.

Carl - Thanks for the travel tips bud - I may go back out in the car this summer to resee the scenery. For this trip tho it'll be about getting there, but going through Brice, Zion, Arches aught to do for this trip. I've been near, but not in Glenwood Springs - gotta hit that soon - maybe for some extended camping/fishing.

Dan - I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm driving a D250, green front half, tan/red back half, and big black 28' car hauler (if it's done in time - if not then it'll be a u=haul trailer with a very outrageous 71 Demon on top - Forrest green w/ twin Viper-white stripes. We'll be heading through Hoover and to the Canyon on the 19th. Hope to see ya. I'll also be on channel 19... (SamsRams)

Pat - yeah, that scenery is just incredible - can't see it enough.

G-Leaf - Graduation from AFA - Wow, no easy task. Good deal, and send my congradulations. The Air Force needs good people, and AFA grads are among the best in the business. Go Air Force!

CB - You got it amigo - we'll hook up and get busy. Looking forward to it! Talk to ya...

Andrew, John - Thanks dudes. I'm looking forward to being nearer fellow Bombers, and Mopar nuts. The Southern Colorado Mopars car club is one of the best Mopar clubs in the region out there - one of my favorite memories from the Springs is hanging with those folks - great bunch, and some amazing rides. Can't wait to get back in the saddle... not too much of that here where I'm at in Cali.

Nice to have friends in smokey places! Once I get established I'm going to try to arrange a Bobming fest at one of the Dodge delearships in the Springs. I have a few contacts there and I think they'll enjoy a big ole' diesel fest, show, shine, BBQ. I'll try to arrange something for the Rocky Mntn Region - might shape up to be a good first time deal. I'll probably be back on through Sunday, but then it'll be time to pack literally everything up... great, can't wait...

Thanks peoples - see ya... later...

You shouldn't be too hard to miss... :D

No CB in the truck yet, but I'll be sure to wave if I see you. :D Have a safe trip!:)

Mission Accomplished!

Well amigos, I just now (10 minutes ago) hooked up the computer and configured the DSL, and where do you think I visited first, well the TDR of course!

Hi guys! I'm hapilly in da Springs, in my new house, and things are pretty good.

The trip was very nice and smooth - no worries, except one. Go power was fine, but woah power could have been better. Had the trailer brakes smokin a little on the first big down hill, and we were only about half hour into the trip. As a result we decided to head across I-40 and up I-25 - less big hills and easier on the transmission. If I had had a lock-up converter I would have tackled the Rockies, but I has a combined gross weight of over 18,000 lbs (truck, trailer, car, and a LOT of extra stuff). But the rig towed the hauler like a dream and got around 12 mpg - not too shabby if I say so. We were able to maintain speed limits most of the way, but convincing the transmission to maintain 75 mph when it doesn't like to do that without 12,000 lbs of trailer is hard enough.

So amigos, I'm going to git a goin', but I wanted to check in and let y'all know the transplant went well and that I'm looking forward to pressing on with these beautiful rigs we call CTD's!

Hasta -
