Well amigos... tis that time in the career - Movin' Time! Off to Colorado Springs, CO. You know, you never realize just how much stuff you accumulate until you have to pack it all up - even the stuff I'm not planning to use (can never get rid of anything... right... ). I sold my house here in SoCal and am ready to press on - been so busy with all this that I've been out of touch for a long time - my apologies amigos.
Seriously though, I've been out of touch for a while because of long-term events at work, and I'm just about done there and ready to pack up the house, including the computer, for a few weeks until the movers unpack it all.
Should be a great trip. A good bud from Pittsburgh hasen't been out West and he's flying out to make the trip to the 'Springs with me. We'll be heading out on the 16th, 28' car hauler (with the Demon inside) in tow, hitting several stops along the way.
We're going to hit a big Mopar show in Van Nuys, CA (Northern Los Angeles), stop by a pro shop that built the original General Lee's for the Dukes of Hazzard on Sunday, head to Vegas Sun afternoon and hit some slots and buffets, jam out Monday, over Hoover Dam (gotta take the dam tour... ), and head for the big ole' slice in the Earth - the Grand Canyon. We'll hit that Monday afternoon and check it all out, and press on back North to pick up I-15 again, and head up through Utah and see the scenery - Arches, Brice Canyon... ). Then hit I-70 East right into Grand Junction, CO, up and over the big ole honkin hill called the Rockies (keeping a watchful eye on the transmission temps and pyro), down the other side into the arms of Denver, hang a right and press on into the 'Springs. Really looking forward to the trip and having a nice smooth time. Rig is running great, power is of course great, and the 28' car hauler aught to be pretty much unnoticed. Gonna take it easy - the transmission is old but I think it'll be fine - no OD on the big stuff. Power is everywhere but we're in no rush.
I took the 85 dually out there two weekends ago - checked the route, and towed the Challenger on the 18' dovetail. Just had to get some stuff out there in advance.
The plans for ASA are delayed a few months until I get settled out there and get crankin again. Sorry amigos, but I'll be back in action hopefully by June-July - Gotta get all new sources. But, I got a nice big house out there with a big honkin detached garage (read: Hangar, toy box, whatever) and I should have pretty good stoorage for all the aforementioned stuff... and to begin the big project - the Rig.
The rig is going to be my Summer/Fall/Winter project that will end up being a combination of my 85 4-door dually, my 93 diesel, and a whole bunch of new stuff, including a custom dually dana 80, DTT 2nd gen trans, 4x4 conversion, custom air suspension, fresh everything, new interior, and lots of mods. Not really sure how long it will take or when I'll actually start, but I'm setting out to build the rig from hell that'll tow a house, go off road, and cruise on the highway going to my favorite shows like a dream. - I got the bombing bug way bad... .
Oh, and keep an eye on the list below - it's gonna change. Let's just say it's time to add something old, and something new. You know it's not gonna be a new truck, but you know it is gonna be a Dodge!
See ya my friends - catch ya on the flip side.
