Cops looking for Rapist in WA driving 2500QC

After 24+ years in the aviation industry, I will not get into a small plane. I have heard grown men cry like babies, as they know they will surely die in mere seconds...

I am completely comfortable with airliners, and would be flying for a living if it weren't for being out of town so much. I love to fly in the cockpit with the pilots. You get to see/hear everything happening.

How small you talking?? I hate to fly and im white nuckle all the way no matter what plain I get in. Just that feeling of no control and going down is my worst fear. At least if I drive then I have some conrtrol over the situation.

I wouldn't believe everything you read. The first website I imagine is just a way to pile up email addresses to sell on bulk lists. I didn't bother to fill it out.

The 2nd website is informative.

Your chance of crashing in an airplane is prolly just as much as getting hit by a train. Theres usually 2 or 3 crossing accidents per day on the UP alone, and thats not counting how many people are ran over walking on or sleeping on the tracks, or illegal aliens trying to get across the border and fall off railcars.

Just a couple nights ago a truck (½ ton Ram) hit a stopped train (literally ran into the side of it) while it was in a siding waiting to make a meet. He hit the side of the train (coal empty) then flagged down a driver and had the driver take him to Hodgekiss (about 6 miles from where it happened) and called 911. This was in Colorado... . around Panioa, Rogers Mesa, Hodgekiss.

Here's a statistic for ya:

Every day, the people killed in auto accidents alone would fill a boeing 747. How often do you hear of a plane crash?

I fly 50 seat Canadair Jets and the most dangerous part of my job is the van ride to the hotel usually by some college student that has never driven anything bigger than a toyota. I can't count the number of times i've almost been in an accident on one of those van rides.

I think the result of everyone's fear of being in an accident is the result of not knowing enough about the airline industry. If you knew how safe it was, you'd feel alot better about flying!

Fear of flying?

Why? I love to fly, will get in anything with wings, rotors,or silk.

Just as long as I can do the preflight... And I know the pilot... .

If you have time to spare, go by air!!

A few years ago, my brother left Medford, Or. (near the Calif. border) on a commercial flight to Portland, Or. for an important business meeting. Portland was fogged in so the flight was diverted to Pasco-Richland area (southeastern Washington), before they could land at Pasco, it was socked in, so they were diverted to Spokane. They landed there and after some delay, Portland was open so away they went. Before they got to Portland it was again close and they were diverted north and ended up landing somewhere in the Seatle area. They were there for sometime, but again left for Portland. Before they could land, it was again closed so they were diverted to Eugene, Or, but before they could land there they were diverted to Medford, where he had started out almost 24 hours earlier.

He gave up and went home.

I had a friend die in a small plane crash, but i have had friends die in car wrecks too. The only things that i hate about flying are, #1 i am not in control, nor can i see what the pilot is doing, #2, the windows are too small (i understand why), it is not fun not being able to see what is going on outside and #3, unlike a car, train or bus, you cant just pull over if there is a problem.

DMKelley:

The company I work for builds those. Who do you fly for? I'm in the business aviation end of the company.

We worked on a project for your company to install the Ground Data Link system in your aircraft. I did the engineering on the system, and we installed it in one A/C. The GDL manufacturer ran into alot of political obstacles getting the system off the ground (so to speak), and is no longer around. I was at your hanger in Cincinnati, and we did the install at WVAC. I like the way Comair does business... very professional. Glad you got that strike problem fixed.

Hmmmm...

We had heard rumors about that system being installed, but of course never saw it. I was wondering what ever happened to that. One of the things I like about Comair is that they do things right in a lot of ways. The strike was unfortunate and noone comes out a winner. We're glad it's over because my Fiance is also a pilot for us. That meant 89 days with no income.

I got to fly a corporate RJ configured for 30 seats during the strike. A/C #7007 I think. Pretty cool airplane. It was older than any Comair airplane, but was loaded with dual FMS, Heads-up display, Dual radar heads, etc... I think it was the old Xerox corporate RJ.

Medford is bad in the winter time for fog. I hate landing in it, takeing off in it you name it. It makes it alot more turbulence and we even miss the runway a few times and have to pull up and do it again. When that starts to happen I cant pray fast enough. Like EMMD said, if there is a problem with your truck you can pullover. If your in a plane you may as well stick your head between your legs and kiss your a$$ good bye.

The day I grow feathers will be the day I fly. Flying ... never have and never will ... I don't even like trusting my wife to drive with me in the car.
