For the guys that are on the fence about the starter rebuild kit. you might wanna check out my contacts that came out. Actually, only one was bad, the other wasn't in too bad of shape. The truck only has 155,000 miles on it. The hardest part about the whole deal is getting to the top starter bolt. Even that wasn't bad. Piece of cake. You will need a 10mm 12 pt socket to take the starter bolts out. The nut holding the battery cable on is a 5/8. Not sure what size the little bolt holding the little wire on the solenoid is, I used a pair of pliers.
The bolts holding the contact studs are 17mm.
Symptoms were, starter hanging up after the engine was started, and sometimes I would only get a click when I turned the key.
The kit isn't just a pair of contacts, it has the plunger, contact studs, insulators, nuts, just about eveything in the solenoid.
