thats easy...

just shift from 3rd to 5th

good luck!

it was weird but when rick rebuilt mine he said, "it might make a little noise but it will last you a long, long time"

i have not heard any noises out of it!

My truck does tha same thing. In fourth, at around 1800-2000rpm i get like a rattling. Almost like a growling or something. Then goes away. Not the transmission. Bought a new one, still does it. Not sure what it is. If you figure it our, let me know. I also have a SB dual disc and large input shaft.

Thanks, Travis

Ok, I'm pretty sure its because of the solid disc clutch. Read some were a fluid damper will help. Anybody have first hand experience? Its a lot of money to upgrade the clutch and I really like the way it is.

Help

I have always had noise from exhaust at 1800 under any load. Both with 3" and 4". Seems to be some kind of resonate frequency. There should be no reason why a fully engaged clutch would rattle. I would definitely suspect the exhaust if it contacting anything. Check the hangers and clamps.

Jim, what are you saying? I'm Lost.

I have read up a bit on dampers and I guess the fluid damper helps and I guess there are different sizes.

Also I guess there area different size stock ones for different hp engines and mine is the 180hp one and I guess the 215 is bigger.

Guess I'll save another 400 bucks.

Its only money and you can't take it with you.

i only use fluidampner on internally balanced motors

i dont know if these motors are internally or externally balanced

you dont want to be playin around and switchin out dampeners on externally balanced motors - that i know

you got that ex off your motor yet?

When I first started having problems with clutch slippage in the Dodge engine I went to Mccleod and togeather we set up a 10" double disc clutch with a floating center disc and they made a lot of noise then we put togeather a 12" double disc and hooked the center disc down with 3 straps and took a lot of the noise out but we still had the noise from the gears in the trans transmitted thru the solid disc 4th gear was the worst when you got on it hard I still have a 12" Mccleod new clutch and flywheel in stock if anyone would like to have it at my cost let me know.
