NV4500 question

I have been thinking of putting a 4500 transmission in my 91 Cummins. I found one in a locally and the owner has no idea what it came off from. It is 4X4 and the transfer case is still attached. I don't know if the donor truck was gas or diesel. Are all the 4500 4X4 trannys the same, what guidelines should I follow so that I can make this work? The price is very reasonable but I don't need a boat anchor. Thanks for any help.

Gasser LD nv4500 has a 1 1/8" input shaft, diesel HD nv4500 has a 1 1/4" input shaft. They definately are not the same. What t-case is bolted to it?
