Hey Marty;

Nice job, you did the conversion yourself??? You said it took you about 3 weeks. What does that translate to in round hours of labor?

Were you quoting US or CDN $? If CDN$ fantastic deal!

My ol'getrag is on it's last leg and I don't want waste more money on another rebuild. I have been talking about making the conversion myself but feelin kinda chicken. I was thinking on getting the boys at Coast Power Train to do the job, since they did a great job on my posi-rear end. But, maybe with the right coaching I might feel brave enough.

How do you like the feel of the NV5600?

I'll keep my eyes peeled on Ebay for it.

Let us know if you see significant fuel improvement high driving (I would expect you should).

By the way where did you get the Borgeson? I'm going to do that mod first since I got steering problems.

The trailer was made by H&H trailer in IA. It's stainless steel with an aluminum deck skin... . quite a trailer but I wish the deck was a little heavier.

As for the conversion, I guess there was about 20hrs of labor to do the project. The time consuming part is every time you turn around you need some small part & these days the dealers don't stock anything so you're really at their mercy as to how fast they can get things shipped.

The other problem for me was no hoist so it was rather uncomfortable clambering around under that thing on my back. The NV5600 is very heavy so I was building brackets for my floor jack etc etc.

All in all it was a good project & it went smoother than I'd expected.

The bad news is the day after I got the truck back on the road some lady nailed the back my truck parked on the road!:mad: Totaled her 2003 Mercedes:) ... no body damage to the Dodge but some rear suspension damage & bent my Alcoa wheels like pretzels. :{

They really need to make it more difficult to get a drivers license around here!

As for the Gear Vendor Overdrive, It's pretty straight forward. It gives you an extra gear between all your gears & an overdrive on top of whatever your final drive is. Switch operated. The Gear Vendors are great units & if you service them regularly they'll run for a long long time.

Check out this link-Gear Vendors

And it looks like that the Transfer case, being right sided, bolted right in also. Looks like maybe a littke tight on the oil filler plug. Looks Good.
