Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) OBD II port loose

Hi, while trying to pull and clear codes I had a tough time getting scanner to work. There is play in the plug end, had to constantly apply pressure to get scanner to work. How do I fix this? My edge comp is shot, they won't fix it since its 10 yrs old. If I keep truck will get a smarty, but need port fixed first
