I saw in a accessories catalouge that you can get an alarm for the ram in a style where you already have the keyless entry. Anybody have that alarm either on when new or otherwise, does it work good? want to get something where you don't have to splice into wires to hook up.

Thanks

Eric

Got one

EricBu12,

I got the kit as part of my new truck purchase deal, but have never installed it. It looks like an after market alarm system. I am also wondering what it does. It has a motion detector, siren, and a control box. I hope your talking about the EVS II system. That is what I have. It works with the keyless entry system as an add on. Does anyone have one and if so is it worth it? How does it work? Does the light on the red light on the overhead console still work? I want to know, also.

I added the "EVS II +" to my '99. It is engineered to work with the factory wiring, that is, the wiring harnesses plug right into existing ones. If memory serves me correctly, the only splicing required is in the parking light circuit at the back of the headlight switch, in order to get your "2 blinks" when the system is armed and de-armed. Overall, I am very pleased with it.

I found out that my truck for some reason, did have the keyless entry but the factory mounted anti theft that beeps the horn like from the panic button was not installed and it didn't have the led light on the overhead. I bought the main part of the alarm but it is an overlay so there will be splicing and such but it includes detailed instructions. I had to order the wiring harness which they did not have onhand. total should be around $200 or so. hope it works.

EVSII

i added the EVSII to my 98 dakota which had the keyless entry OEM. relatively painless plug in , as i remember it. had to add the siren, under the hood. wires through the firewall, also. had to install under the steering wheel. no big deal. worked flawlessly. i decided against it this time, only because i want the money for other BOMBs. the factory security system will have to do, for now at least. :(
