seems these are the two main brake pads everyone is using here. which one is better on rotor life, stopping power, brake dust, and fade. i need replacements and wonder which pad to go with. thanks
Unreal. With all the fiscal problems here,Ca's worried about poisonous brake dust? What enviro-nut thought this one up? The same guy with fraudalent credentials and junk science that instituted the diesel retro or replace mandate? :{This is a little off the subject but the states of WA and CA have signed into law a provision to remove copper and 4-5 other chemicals from disc brake pads by the year 2012 or maybe 2014, can't remember the exact date... .
The law means that any pad sold, or that is installed at the factory must no longer have the mentioned chemicals in it...
From someone who understands friction I can tell you that there is going to be a huge change heading our way... . I personally don't understand how the pad will function. .
What started this was the state of CA has decided in their wisdom that the dust off of disc brake pads is something that is now doing damage to the air we breath as well as making our wheels look dirty... .
I've read the WA bill, and talked to my state senator and was told they just copied CA bill, but couldn't tell me if there were any engineers consulted to see if a disc brake pad can be made and function as designed with the changes... .
My Hawks are Dusty AND noisy at light brake pressure; part of the reason I changed them out to begin with. I even completely disassembled, cleaned, painted, greased and used disc brake quiet, i gave up! My Hawks leave a reddish color dust on my black wheels which is a BEAR to get off!
