Jet Fuel

At the airport we have a lot of 50 gal drums of reuseable jet A that gets sumped out of the Gulfstreams, it works great in our trucks with wotor oil. I heard the ve's need lube, however the P pumps do not as they are lubed from engine oil?

A friend of mine has a '98 24 valve that he runs almost always on red fuel. He owns a mining company and a used car dealership. He drives it on the dealer plate. He just changed the VP44 for the 2nd time a month ago. I attribute this to neglect,as he does almost no maintenance to his vehicles,you know,changes the fuel filter when it won't run anymore. The road mechanic I work w/ says the DOT cops ask to check your fuel,if you say no,automatic $1000 fine.

red #2

It is very simple monday I paid $2. 33 for red. road fuel is 2. 75 or so, what real choice is there. I burn about 50 gal a week driving for work. I make 25 an hour with no fuel compensation. yes I could drive a yugo but I would not fit. yes it is illegal however in california I pay 1200 in rent and we are taxed on everything. am I a scofflaw yes. come walk in my shoes :-{}

Sounds like the thing to do would be to deduct your vehicle operating expenses on your income tax statement... that $0. 40 per mile IRS credit adds up fast (especially since my CTD only costs me about $0. 20 per mile to operate). Of course, if you're burning bootleg fuel that might not be such a good idea after all... it would be kind-of awkward to get audited and have to show the IRS guy your untaxed fuel receipts ;)

Well if that fuel tax is for fixing the roads then why in the sam hill of everything reasonable is the friggin potholes getting bigger and more per square foot, the road i drive to work is horrible, the dam thing is supposed to be a highway, it would be better if it were gravel it would be smoother, this is what PO's me about there fuel taxes. One of these days the powers that be are going to get just what they deserve, i can't wait im going to laugh and roll on the floor. :-laf

I only have one major problem with the fuel taxes. They do not all apply to everyone on the road, The 4 wheelers, farm tractors, dirt bikes, various other forms of transportation such as bicycles, and electric/solar vehicles do not have this tax, how is it that because we have to buy our fuel, that we are heavily taxed on it.

Gasoline is taxed on the State and Federal levels just like diesel fuel. The Federal tax on diesel is slightly higher than on gas, partly due to the fact that the majority of vehicles using diesel on Federal highways weigh substantially more than a typical passenger car or light truck, so they in effect do more damage to the roadways.

It's a simple system at this point---imagine the bureaucratic red tape jump-through-hoops-call-this-office-and-that-office-mumbo-jumbo show that would go on if there were tax breaks for this type of vehicle or that type of vehicle depending on usage, weight, etc etc etc.

Talk about more big government that we DON'T need. :)

Oh, and don't worry our favorite elected officials are already sniffing around for ways to make back lost tax revenue because of those running hybrid/electric/solar vehicles, too. :rolleyes: :-laf

I have one comment on the farm tractors, just remember where the food you eat comes from and how it got into the ground to grow.

Farm tractos and off road vehicles need not pay the tax anyway.

I have already heard that those who own hybrid/electric/solar vehicles have it on there regestration under fuel and it designates them for a mutiplyed property tax assesment not sure how much but at least double.
