On a 98 12V where is the oil pressure sender switch? I had no readings at times this past winter when I was plowing snow. I got the switch back then and now want to replace it. Will be doing it sat. morn.

Takes a deep socket 1 1/16.

Most standeard deep sockets may not fit due to the oval design of the stock oil pressure switch (at least on my 96 it did not).

Bought a special sensor deep socket at Carquest for 6 bucks and all it well.

Why DC Engineers could not have used a stock S/W or Echlin etc. pressure switch is beyond me other than it's 45$ at the dealer if my memory is correct.

Mine went at 80K. Only it was reading too high? +80 psi for 3-5 minutes on initial startup and then is would be normal.
I was concerned it was the bypass valve which is set at 65 psi but it turned out to be the sender.

Good luck

Griff, if the switch does not cure it you may need the software update from the dealer. There is a TSB for intermittent oil pressure on the 98 with the "smart dash".

Adiabatic,

A similar question along the same line. I have a '98 3500 12 valve. We've had a continuing problem. When I pull off the interstate and come to a stop my oil pressure gauge drops to zero and an alarm sounds.

At first this scared the heck out of me. Then I realized it was a glitch and pay it no never mind. I noticed it happen a lot more frequently before I upped my rmp at idle.

Is this the same recall you are talking about?

As always, thanks for any info.

Hemi,

Thanks for the info. I looked at the TSB. Another question: I am way out of warranty. To fix this problem will I have to pay to have it down, or is it covered by a recall?
