my brother's truck is lossing oil from the breather tube, it was on the front of my truck when we where following each other. Wonder where it is coming from.
Oil control rings on the piston could be a cause. Perhaps you can find a Cummins shop with a manometer and calibrated orifice to ck. for outta spec. blowby.
A leaky headgasket (cylinder's compression to oil galley or tappet/push rod hole) could possibly add excessive positive crankcase pressure inside the tappet cover hastening the "mist. "
What about the asprin bottle (100 count size) that many of us drill a 7/8-1" hole in its lid, slide it up on the tubing about 1-1. 5" above the end of the blowby tube. Then drill the tygon tubing on the blowby tube just below this, insert a small ziptie and trim the end close (this keeps the lid from falling off the tube) Then drill a couple of 1/4" holes in the neck of the bottle and screw/snap it onto the lid. Make sure the tubing hangs down into the bottle an inch or so... as described above.
The "90" day supply size of prescription drug container is even better. Maybe ask an aging relative or friend to save an empty bottle for you. .
Won't stop the mist or drip, but will keep your windshield far cleaner when following old misty.
