TDR Brothers,

Next week I will be driving from the happy Peoples Republik of Kalifornya (It's happy as we now have Ahhhhnold looking out for us little people) to the great state of TEXAS for the World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo. From there I am going to jog back towards Oklahoma City and possibly Kansas for some quick visiting, then it'll be back to Amarillo. When I get back to Amarillo I'll be needing an oil change and was wondering if anyone can recommend any garages or dealerships that will give my CTD an oil change without having to wait around for a day. Even if I have to call them a day in advance to set up a time, I can live with that.

I normally do the oil changes myself, but when you're on the road it is a hassle. Or should I just take my chances at Wally World?

Adios,

Bryan

I always carry spare oil and fuel filters. If I'm on the road and need an oil change I find a local Wally World and let them change the oil. I supply the filter and tell them which oil to use and they are more than happy to oblige.

Granted this method does have it's hazards/disadvantages but there are things you can do to improve your odds.

1st. - Install a heavy duty oil drain plug. The stock cummins plug is easy to break.

2nd. - Carry enough oil for a complete change if you use an oil other than Delo or Rotella.

3rd. - Don't leave the shop!!!! Watch em like a Hawk. Make sure they know your there watching them!

Good Luck

Terry

If you do use Wally World or any other place similar I would take abledogs advise, and watch them like a hawk. Had a bad experience with them 4 or 5 years ago with a Blazer I dropped off, and went into the store to shop around. I got back to the shop after a while and vehicle was ready, "paid them" went out to the Blazer to get in and noticed hood not shut, raised the hood oil cap off, dip stick all most all the way out, steering wheel covered in oil and cloth drivers door in oil. Me, and the manager had a little talk, have not been back since. "Always have to blame it on the new guy"!
