The overfill is not related to the activation, the ECM only does its calculation for oil change interval.

When you delete the DPF and EGR, you'll find the oil lasts longer and won't increase during the operating interval.

I think you will change your tune when your State starts with annual Emissions testing, installing and removing all that crap will get old fast, I wish I could rid my truck of all of it, but in CA, it won't happen

Annual emissions testing in SC?? This in the state that got rid of vehicle inspections in 1994. Laugh out loud!

wanted best synthetic diesel oil please advise.

I have a 2011 ram 3500 srw crew cab with 7600 miles on it and want to go synthetic next oil change. I changed oil and filter at 2500mi and am going to change again at 8500mi and do oil analysis. but, need imput on oil brands thanks.

Just goes to show that doing it yourself is the way to go.

It does still amaze me how many people/dealerships beleive that crankcase capacity is the amount needed to add at an oil change. It's simply that crankcase capacity, not oil change amount. There is always some oil left in the pan/cooler/block and just blindly adding 12qts will almost always yield an overfull condition. . which just as amazing is the response "the dipstick must be wrong". .

I have always done all my own oil changes. I am rather "picky" and just feel better knowing it is filled to the correct level... . ;)

Will overfill at oil change create short change interval on evic? Can ECM sense this and give a false interval?

I am struggling with 1300 mi change intervals. The dealer and factory are not being much help. Blaming it on idle time and short trips!

Thanks Galen

There is no senor for oil level so I cannot see how it would make a difference.

Short trips are brutal for the '07-'12 emissions systems.

Have you done a UOA to see what the oil is like when the oil change reminder pops up?
