With a cold or hot motor it’s very noticeable between Delo and Amsoil, but that’s all I’ve run. Amsoil sounds better cold, and builds oil pressure faster. Amsoil also holds pressure better under high temps.

I certainly wouldn't argue with you about it, if you say so, then it is . :) I actually get a kick out of you guys ,and these oil threads, some take it more serious then others. As said from now on I will go to once a year on my Ram, its off warranty, and "NO" I won't run Amsoil , so its still going to cost you double :p

$12.75/ea to the door vs $15.85/ea plus shipping. It's not much, but I'll save anything I can.

But I do have to buy 2 at a time to get the $12.75 price, which is okay.

I don’t consider the shipping since I would have paid it anyway with the oil order. Or if I spend XXX there is no shipping. Black is worth the $3 to me.

It’s the little things.

So i didnt mean for this to turn into an OIL war and which is better. Just wanted to ask what the warning was set to for our trucks.

When i was using t5 or t6 and the walmart cummins filter i still went 15k miles on my oil changes and never had any oil tested. I decided to go with Amsoil as they clearly list that it has 6x the wear protection, can go a year without changing the oil so long as thats within 25k miles or 500 engine hours which ever comes first. I will still likely not get my oil tested even running this oil as I dont see the point. Maybe someone can convince me of the reason to get a test done.

The filter you used is cellulose. Highly suggest you change to StrataPore or AMZ/OIL-Donaldson with media designed for long oil change intervals.

12v98,

I'm using amsoil now and there extended life filter. I'll swap it to the Donaldson next oil change.

This has been a great thread and discussion you guys, I've learned alot more than I expected too.

At 75 I feel the same way, this truck is going to last the rest of my life. 60k in 4 years. SnoKing

My truck will be 6 years old in March , and probably
right at 50k by then , no Arizona this winter , but an Alaska trip next June , so I will probably hit the 60k by summers end in 2020.

I will never wear this Ram out, at 72 I won't live long enough. I will take my chances with Rotella .

I just did my first oil change on the truck - it's only got 4250 miles on it, but it was 1 year old, according to when the warranty went into service. (I bought it used at 2500 miles). I typically do 8-10k miles per year and decided on the Fleetguard Stratapore filter with Rotella T5 15/40. And I didn't pre-fill my oil filter before threading it onto the engine. o_O

Oh, and greasing that front cardan shaft is pretty simple with a 3 foot grease gun hose, lok-n-lube and lincoln needle injector. Didn't have any trouble whatsoever...about 10 slow, firm squeezes on the grease gun and there was plenty of grease oozed out to indicate a full application of grease.
