the oil has passed through the cooler before it hits the filter pad... i still think that would be a good location for the oil temp... i don't really need to see what it is in the sump, but what the temp is before hitting the bearings. . with the engine working, it'll be hotter than the water temp, and with it not working so hard, about even with water temp.
when i decide on what oil temp & new oil press. gauge i am getting, i will put the temp in the top of the pad and figure out the fittings to put the press. where the factory switch is...
